My current laptop's backlight is dodgy, so it's going back under warranty and im getting a refund.

I've got ~£300-£400 to spend, but would spend a little more if it was worth it.

I need:
8+ hour battery,
Screen between 11.6-14" (min res 1366*768),
Dual core CPU (needs to be at least as fast as an SU9400)

I dont care about:
The OS (got Windows 7 Ultimate already),
The RAM (got 8GB DDR3 spare),
The HDD (got a 500GB HDD spare).

I would also like HDMI, but thats not that important, and a dedicated GPU would be nice, but not a dealbreaker.

My existing laptop is an Acer 8371 (spec here - but mines the 320GB version - http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Open_Box_-_Acer_TravelMate_Timeline_8371_1068641.html)

The best I've found so far is this - http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/acer-aspire-4820t-refurbished-laptop-07604418-pdt.html - Acer 4820T refurb, i3 & 8 hours battery life for £349.99 - but 14" is a little large and after having a play it felt very cheap, so i'd like to see if you can get something better for me...

i thought what you need is a custom built laptop really or you will end up with wasted ram os license and hdd:

try this
http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/xenon/
remove os gets it down to 442£

can probably bargain it down if you ask for no hdd or ram

Thanks, but I don't think it'll have the battery life I need / it's a little on the expensive side :(
