The UK Open Rights Group has unveiled a distributed tool that lets you discover whether the sites you love are blocked by the filters promoted by the government.

Or just use google chrome with the zen mate addon; nothing blocked.

None of the sites listed there are blocked for me on Virgin Media, even though their logs state that they are.

Scaremongering perhaps?

Seems pretty pointless, surely if any of those were your favourite sites you'd visit them quite often, thus already knowing they're blocked?

i noticed that the ones i have tried have gone through on talk talk because i have a different DNS provider

Poor wording on there part.
If you were googling for something and it didnt work you would go elsewhere thats a more likely scenario

Silly government you can't block the Internet, where there is a will there is a way. But then thats not what its really about anyway.

Not everyone knows how to get around it so it does stop some people.

What is worrying is the lack of oversight.
Who watches the watchers?
and if there is a mechanism for false blocking of innocent sites.

censorship is rarely a good thing

best way to see if your favourite site is blocked, is to try and visit the site...?

The major torrent sites are all accessible on Virgin Media with no issues at all. I haven't had any problems with any sites I use being blocked.
