A while ago - maybe last week - I saw details of a little metal rod that you scraped with a blade to get a spark to light a fire. I don't think it was a main DEAL but someone mentioned it as being on the same site as a deal. Now I can't find it or even remember what it was called so I can search for it...can anyone help???

Dealextreme are well known among us HUKDers as being cheap for things and I guess they have gained a fair few customers through this site alone, some items can be cheap and tacky but most things are ok and ive had a fair amount of bits from them, including an excellent micro usb bluetooth adaptor, with something like this though there isnt really anything to fail on it as it is simply a flint with a saw type blade to spark it with! As items are direct from china delivery takes a little longer (although some uk companys have taken longer than DX) average delivery is 7-10 days the longest I have been waiting is around three weeks for an high demand item.

As I said before wire wool is excellent tinder as it is virtually waterproof, I used to have one of these and kept it in an old tobacco tin with the wire wool in one of those plastic money bags! It does say on the reviews the cord is slightly too short but how much does a piece of string or an old shoelace cost? and even then the cord is not a neccesity its just to keep the two parts together!
