I find it's a lot faster than IE... and love how you can save the pages/tabs you have open when you close it down so they all come back up when you open it again :)

Hi Pheo how's it going?
why not download a few different browsers?
here's a link to compare http://internet-browser-review.toptenreviews.com/
I like Opera and Firefox (you can get lots of add ons for firefox)

Your mates right...!!!!

Hippies like to make out its better, so that they appear to be somehow in the know, but when it comes to the crunch, IE is pretty awesome...

Personally i use google chrome, but that's only so i can get one-up-man-ship on the firefox lot, and when they migrate to chrome, i will go to Opera or seamonkey

lmao..is using a different browser to the mainstream more important than using one you like best ??
#6
I use FF, switched over last year and I much prefer it to IE.

Why not download it, try it out and see if you like it? Asking for opinions on browsers is more or less guaranteed to start a disagreement.

Unless of course, you were looking to do a bit of trolling.

Being an individual is more important to me than following the mainstream, only through this chosen path will i become enlightened...

Plus seamonkey is awesome, i swore i wouldn't tell anyone, so that i wouldn't have to switch again but as long as you guys don't tell anyone we will be ok :p

Ive been using firefox for about a year now, thhere are so many add-ns for it. I find it alot better than than IE which i find pretty slow and clunky.

Why is seamonkey so much better? Help me on my path to enlightenment. Seriously, not heard of that one (bit slow with computers at times)

serious?

mine starts fine

SeaMonkey is based on Firefox (Gecko engine)
SeaMonkey is an all-in-one. Web, Email, Chat, Newsgroups, Editor etc.

on three different machines... my work one, my netbook and my big rig desktop... on all three IE opens like three times faster than FF... i asked my brother in law n a guy a work wtf was going on n they said FF is faster/more stable when you have like 10+ tabs open...

prefer IE tbh...

i was a huge fan of IE, but switched to firefox all because of the add ons. like read it later which is excellent as well as many others. it does take slightly longer to start up but worth it.
the crash recovery is excellent too
i used to chrome too but the BSOD just got to me in the end,

i would go for Opera also, great Internet explorer lol
#29
ie is rubbish compared to Firefox as it just is it fails in every way its slower and more vulnerable to viruses than Firefox its clickity ****ing clicks are annoying as hell when your browsing (whereas Firefox is silent) its just better put together than internet explorer

Firefox is safer and faster. IE is slow, tempermental and Microsoft (which says a lot.....though i'd like to clarify, i still prefer windows over macs *spits* any day). From a web designer's perspective, when making websites, you constantly have to "tweak" the code just so that IE will display it properly. Other browsers usually display things how they're meant to be displayed but IE has been made poorly and makes life difficult for web designers, making people who browse the internet on IE get websites which sometimes therefore don't look as good as they do in other browsers.

Still haven't made your mind up? Go tho this page>http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/security/ and take a look at the bit under "When Are You at Risk?". Puts IE to shame!!!!!!!

Edit: if you don't want to go to the link, here's a screenshot of what I'm referring to.

Internet Explorer is tied into Explorer (the main Wndows shell) which I would think has a lot to do with its speed of opening up.

Firefox came to light during the dark days of IE6 where Microsoft basically did nothing, at that point IE6 was comparatively basic and very open to malware. Since then they've closed the gap somewhat with the additions of tabs and some other features which doesn't leave Firefox quite as prominent as it was. Personally I'm a big fan of Opera and have been for many years, it is the browser that's responsible for many of the current innovations which they always seem to be adding to and like that it feels like a polished, complete product ouf of the box.

this thread "converted" anyone else to firefox?
#34
Nope, Opera all the way here :)

I used to use FF, not any longer. Google Chrome works best for me now - much lighter and no crashes. On the occasional site where I have probs, I back it up with IE and the combo seems to work well.
