If I were you i'd try a better firewall, google 'comodo firewall', it's great (and free)

The only thing wrong with XP's firewall is that it does not protect outgoing data. I have tried all the free firewalls and found them wanting, and they use too much of the PC's resources. XP is fine for most people and if you test it with ShieldsUp, you will find that nothing gets through (http://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?rh1dkyd2)
