Firm develops bullet - proof hoodie

A new bullet proof hoodie will go on sale at the end of this month, to supposedly protect against street crime.

The £300 "Defender" hoodie makes the wearer's upper body invincible to 9mm Magnum handgun bullets, according to its maker.

It was developed by London-based company Bladerunner, which also makes stab-proof tops.

What are your views on this?
Do you think it will protect against crime?
Is it realistic and affordable to those who might need it?
Are you outraged at this company for exploiting the current climate of violence on the streets?
Or do you believe this is a positive step forward?

I think this stinks, it is another way of screwing people.
I hate the whole fact that Britain has come to this, we are in the gutter due almost entirely to drugs.
I pity my kids as things will get much worse.

I personally think this is a terrible market ploy that was bound to get huge publicity - hence higher sales.
These will get into the wrong hands, the majority of the general public will be unable to afford this. However, the hardened criminals who perpetrate such crimes will aford it without problem, then go out and commit crimes safe in the knowledge they are protected.

Sounds too cheap to be effective tbh :?

Proper SAS stylee then, aiiiii.

Joking aside I remember watching an episode of Penn & Teller about companies in the US that sprang up after 9/11 selling anti anthrax kits, masks and personal parachutes for when you have to jump out of a high rise office building, all at high cost of course. Disgusting state of affairs if you ask me.

I'd say that this hoody is only relevant to Druggy's. What does it look like?

Article fails, magnums are not 9mm, they are higher calibre, generally .45.

You watch too much Dirty Harry, the common .357 snub nose (python 'service revolver') is approx 9mm;-)

Edit : Wiki

The same one Brocock based their cartridge air pistols on I believe.

For £300 I'd rather just buy one of these...

Shame all the idiots banned them.

That was a really good and well-thought out law.

"Lets ban all the legal ones, that kill no-one, and thatl create great headlines for the government, while we continue to ignore the under-staffing of the police, which allows the illegal gun crime to flourish"

The current level of gun-crime is entirely the fault of the ruling government.
Well ok maybe a bit the Tabloid Media, and probably everyone that agreed with banning handguns.
Bullet-proof hoodies are just another weapon to be used by the thugs to stop them getting shot by rivals. Its not like normal people are going to wear them, come on.
