I'm aiming to build a nice solid PC that will last a good while and perform well as an all-rounder. I don't really play games but will be editing/rendering video as well as graphic and audio tasks.
I've spent quite some time trying to research all this stuff but I'm a little wary as I've never built a PC before so I'm hoping some of you in the know could advise me on my selection of components and let me know if you spot any compatibility issues or if there's any room for improvement.
My budget is around £500/£550 (It was less until I saw the price of the Quad cores are coming down :)

[U £40.00 I'm not 100% set on overclocking - I thought I'd see what temps this set up would run at and then take it from there.
I'm not certain about the graphics card I've selected - not really sure what I should be looking for!
I also have a SkyStar2 PCI satellite card and a Sigma Hollywood+ MPEG2 decoder card to slot in.
For the moment I'll be recycling the DVD writer, monitor and speakers from my current PC. I'll be running XP for the time being but may upgrade in the future.
Thanks for reading... all suggestions are welcome :)
