I've just bought a wooden fire surround with a marble hearth and back panel, the fire surround holds the back panel in place but I also want to fix the panel to the wall as there is a bit of weight in it, what is the best option to fixing a marble back panel to plasterboard walls?

It will be only having an electric fire in the surround so sealing it against fumes etc is not required and I also don't want to drill the marble.

Anyone done this before and what did you use?

so you want to fix a marble insert inside a fire surround without using fixings ?

no more nails

Gripfix or any of those type of adhesives will do it, make sure if the wall is painted that the paint is sound or it will pull it off. You could use a couple of clips to ensure that it stays put if you can hide them.

I would suggest fixing a 1/2 " plywood to the wall 1st with decent fixings and then like suggested above using the no nails to fix the back panel to the plywood
