Going to attempt my first ever rrod fix for my sister in law. Just want to ask people, as there are so many kits on ebay, which one is the most effective whilst not being too expensive. or, are they pretty much all the same?

Why don't you look for the cheapest and read the guys feedback to see how it worked for people!?!

Fixing RRoD is relatively simple, but its not a garunteed fix. Xbox extended their warranty on most Xbox to cover this problems so try this route first, and then only go for the X-Clamp fix.

I would recommend you buy a kit with the Torx T8 and T10 screw drivers as they are essential for removing the casing etc...

Agreed with Rsucoe, contact MS first and see if they will fix it under warranty.

Having attempted a repair and creating a guide for it here somewhere, I would say dont bother with fixing it, any fix appears to be only temporary and the RROD will come back.

This console was manufactured in 2006. its waaay past the 3 yr warranty for rrod. Ive got the console stripped, just need the bits. I'll just order the cheapest then.

Feedback check first, the punters won't lie. If the kit is no good, they will say :)

That's the same kit I bought. The seller has 100% +ive feedback with over 15000 sales.
