Flashing Xbox 360

Anyone on the forum got their 360 flashed for playing backups?

If so - did you do it yourself and was it easy?

If not - where did you get it done?

Did it affect xbox live?

I understand its drive specific, how do I found out which dvd drive my 360 has in it?

Thanks everybody,
Sam.

Left: Philips-BenQ
Centre: LG-Hitachi
Right: Toshiba-Samsung

That's how you tell the difference. I don't know about anything else, sorry : [

Well it still sorts out one of my problems, cheers!

jus curious, whats the newer released one. So I can work out what generation of xbox I have. I have the Toshiba one in this Xbox (replacement)

BenQ is the latest drive I think.

Plenty of info. on xbox-scene.

Which drive you have determines how difficult it is to flash.

Once you figure out which drive (and you may have to open your machine to find out exactly which model), let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.

Only do this if you're confident of doing it properly or else you can end up with a broken 360. Also don't use a floppy, use a USB stick.

Have you flashed your 360?

A long shot, but I notice your from somewhere around Cambs, would either you, or whoever flashed your 360, be willing to do mine, for some cash?

If your 360 isn't flashed well then ignore me

My drive is the LG-Hitachi, should I question this as I only brought it about a week ago from Game- brand new, shouldn't it have the BenQ?

You better off with the hitachi, as that is flashable. Only way to find out exactly model is to open the machine.

If you're not confident about doing it yourself, there are plenty of reliable people about who would be happy to help.

Hitachi and Samsung are both able to be flashed. At present you can play your backups on xbox live as well.

Newer games that require updates can mean you need to get your 360 re-flashed although at the moment none have managed to make the 360 into an expensive door stop.

Get someone who knows what they are doing to do this for you and use or obtain good quality discs as they get hot and cheap ones fail on write or after a few weeks.

You should also own the original game that you are running a copy of.

I did flash mine but to be honest i wouldn't want to do someone else's because if it did go wrong i'd be to blame. At least if i had of messed up mine then i only had to answer to myself. :)

I do know a man in kettering that can do it though, although i'm not sure how much he charges, he does give a 3 month warranty afterwards.

Sounds good, is he mobile or do you take your 360 to him? Any contact details?

No, about 30-40 mile straight down the A14, would take about 40 mins. I'm in Peterborough and it takes me 20-25 mins to get there on the single carriageway A605.

I gave him a call, seem's like a really helpful bloke, said he can do it in about 25 minutes, so wouldn't even have to leave it overnight.

£30 then £7 for all games - cheers for the info...rep will be added.
