hi there,

Ive recently booked a return flight to italy for me and my girlfriend to stay with my aunty. however my aunty has just been told that she has to have an operation during our stay.

I was wondering if there is any way to cancel the flights ?

my girlfriend paid for the flight to italy with jet 2 , 2 days ago (not sure if the money will have come out yet) . and i booked the return from italy with ryanair tonight. I know the money hasn't gone out of my account to ryan air yet. (what happens if i cancel the direct debit? am i allowed to do so)

will jet 2 be lenient with it being only a couple of days ?

hope you can offer some help

ryanair will not allow cancellations from what I understand but will allow you transferring to another person. unfortunately this often costs more than the flight tickets!

You havent set up a direct debit, just that they have your account details to debit. This isnt the same as dirrect debit so you cannot cancel.

If the money hasn't come out yet, phone your bank & cancel your card (say you lost it) - then Jet2's payment will go as cancelled & they will contact you for alternative payment, at this point, say you have changed your mind !!

not quite! The airline could quite easily refer the debt to a credit agency and recovery agency. Once you confirm the booking then you have entered into a legal agreement. In any case, transactions will still go through even on a cancelled card unless they are fraudulent.

Not to mention the morality argument....................

Do you have travel insurance that would cover the refund instead?

Travel insurance only covers the people flying against accident / illness
