Hope all goes well DLM :) , I've never had one but have been advised to ... can never make my mind up so end up not having one, but haven't been that ill for ages anyway.. :) does that make sense?

I always get the flu before I get my jab so then afterwards, its pointless. I have a cold now which I know will develop into the flu. Good luck with the jab to all those that get it in time :-)

Stops you getting the flu, which can be really serious for people in the at risk categories

Had mine today

Trying to forget that I am supposed to go get one too, had flu really bad last Christmas and promised that I would definitely go this year but.... I am terrified of needles, to the point where I usually throw up all over the poor nurse and then faint, so I think I am gonna wimp out again this year.

I had mine last Saturday for the same reasons as DLM.. They have a flu jab clinic at the local community centre where they try and do all the jabs on one day.. Tea and biscuits.. Gosh I felt old there sat amongst the pensioners.... Been having them for years..

Not nasty at all kidcat.. I've never felt bad afterwards either.. I've heard some say that after they have had the jab they feel awful and have really bad flu the next week.. This according to the leaflet they give you to read before your jab is complete rubbish but I suppose can effect some folks differently.. I have never had any side effects at all..

I used to be scared of needles (not any more since I have them all the time!) and was dreading my flu jab. We waited in the waiting room, then went to another area of the waiting room, walked through and got the jab and were told to wait 10 minutes just incase you have a reaction. We sat there for 10 mins and then my mum said "lets go" (I was only about 10 at the time) and I was really confused, because I thought we were sitting waiting for it, didnt realise that had been it!

Really does hurt a lot less than normal injections, so much so that a child terrified of needles didnt realise I had it done! I would definitely recommend you having it done if you can. The best thing though, is try not to worry about it too much - the more you worry the more you tense up, and the more you tense up the worse it will be because it is going into the muscle.

Lol, I know the feeling. I am 21, but when I was approx 14 I had the pneumonia jab - which was only for over 80s at the time! Lasts 10 years so havent had to have another one yet. Didnt stop me getting bad pneumonia a few years ago either

Thanks kelly, maybe I will brave it this year, that way I could make my eldest (who has asthma) have it too without being a hypocrite.
