FLV Player Virus? How can I get rid of it?

Following on from issues with my screen resolution keep changing, I suddenly found my PC very sluggish and a new desktop icon that I hadn't downloaded - FLV Player.

I've uninstalled it now several times using Revo Uninstaller and scanned my PC using Malwarebytes Mbam, Microsoft Security Essentials and CCcleaner and run Rkill (as suggested by another HUKD user). BUT I then had an issue with Peer Block booting on startup and throwing up error messages that I couldn't close.

Now though.......after rebooting my PC, FLV Player keeps installing at startup and taking over control of my PC. I cant do anything when it starts to boot.

Can anyone help or recommend a way to delete this rubbish from my PC?

where did you get the flv player from ?

Strange thats it's a virus . however if you can give the proper filename for it or who makes this program ?

Shout at the screen while brandishing a weapon.

Also you haven't run an antivirus scanner - do a complete scan with AVG or Avira as malware scanners may not pick up virus signatures (probably an executable somewhere, most likely C:\Windows or system32 that keeps reinstalling it).

I PM'd you

Head over to www.techmonkeys.co.uk and they will help you remove it for free

Save a little time as well, by reading these instructions on how to create the appropriate logs first

Honestly, don't bother.

I waited a week for them to come back to me on my problem, and I ended up fixing it myself

No idea.

Malwarebytes Mbam comes up with:- Adware and Hijack Start Page against FLV Player. The BAD link is: http://flvdirect.iamwired.net/

Carried out all checks, but when I reboot it pops up again ??/ :x

Tried that, and although everything is removed it still reappears each time I reboot.

Cheers, but does Windows 7 automatically create restore points as I don't have any? Do you have to set these manually?

can you post the log of malware bytes in here please. update it then when it tells you you have a problem then tick the bit that fixes it but post log either way. Does Mbam tell you it will fix it on restart btw ?

Cheers for all your help, but you kinda lost me there.

Plus each time I try to run a fix it asks me to reboot, if I dont that seems to cause a conflict. If I do.....the FLV problem comes back.
#20
try spybot as well
#23
might be just quicker to reinstall ... or use your recovery partition on laptop or PC if it has one
#24
LazyDonkey, why are you ignoring me?

Anyway, if you want help, download HiJackThis and post up the log in here.

http://test.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/_download/HJTInstall.exe

Would be a lot easier if you use TeamViewer.

LazyDonkey, I am having the same problem with the FLV Player, just worried it might be doing ,more than just sitting on the desk top. Have un-installed a few times run a full Microsoft Essential scan and a full Malware, but the tenacious little **** still comes back and, as you say takes over the computer. I don't know where it came from.

Were you able to fix it?
