Hi, I am travelling to Sanfrancisco then onto Anaheim but don't have the resort transfers sorted yet. As i don't know exactly how long I want to stay in SFO, is it possible to just turn up at SFO airport and catch a plane to Los Angeles without booking in advance?
It would be for 2 UK citizens and a 1 way flight only.

Depends upon how many seats the carrier / aircraft have left.

If you are willing to fly at an unpopular time (e.g. midday) then probably - but the prices on the day can be dear.

Better to book a day or so in advance when you decide how long you want to stay.

not very eco friendly doing such a short journey

it might be cheaper (and possibly faster) to get a train or something

It is an absolutely gorgeous drive with lots of interesting places to see.

No problem turning up at airport for a flight, subject to all mentioned above - availability and potential cost. Make sure you have your passport!!

As I remember the amtrak is 8 hours+, dont 4get to check southwest.com and the new virgin budget service http://www.virginamerica.com/va/home.do
A car to do the 400 mile journey-its freeway all the way would be a lot cheaper and I can recommend holidayautos.co.uk with quidco and take out 'the max' insurance for a tank of fuel!

agree with other comments - on a last minute it might be cheaper to drive, take the train or greyhound. If you are determined to fly also check Southwestairlines.com, Jetblue - who fly from Oakland. You could also look at Alaska Airlines as i used their service a few yrs back!
to get to either SFO or OAK airports catch Bart - Bay area Rapid transit.

Remember tho that after 1st suitcase checked in per passenger, US carriers charge for each extra bag checked in to the hold of the aircraft. Photo ID is important - even for domestic flights. There are numerous airports in the los Angeles area - the nearest to Anaheim being John Wayne Orange County Airport!

Thanks for all info, whilst I agree that train or bus would be more eco-friendly the schedules
are quite restricted and the travel time in excess of 8 hours each. Have taken on board info reagrding cost of just turning up so, does anyone know if I can book in SFO at travel agents giving a couple of days notice?
There is no problem regarding ID etc as I will have passports,
Rep added to all
