Over the next couple of days I'll be designing a logo for a friend for his Outdoor Pursuits Business, and am looking for a font, that resembles such an activity..

An ideas/advice will be greatly welcomed.

we need to design him a Logo for his business ... dont wanna give out his "potential" name as he hasnt bought the domain as of yet, but he does loads of outdoor pursuits.

he organises trips etc, outings and weekend events etc for young adults

Something simple, maybe a mountain in the background, and i wouldn't go crazy on a font been honest, i think something simple would do it nicely..
#8
care to show me ... I was going to try and incorporate a "stick man" into the logo as well, hence why I dont make use of a Font, rather than use background image.

I'll whip something up now, I'll have to change PC's so i'll be ten mins, Since as lappy doesn't have good old photoshop on :)
#10
btw, is it .co.uk needed in logo or not?
#11
cheers
#12
na, just what we sed ;-) if you just wanna use the words "indianjones" rather than the proper words perhaps?
#13
i'll make a mock up using Phones4Free :)
#14
k, waiting 4 ya lol
#15
This was whipped up in 2 mins, as you can tell but something like

i normally make about 30 before im happy lol

Let me explain the logo though,
Firstly you have to remember the uses' its a business so you'll want it on invoices, so you want it nice and simple. think all big companies have simple images...
secondly you want it straight to the point, no messing about..

Now i know that logo is a bit poor but its the idea..if you go too OTT your going to get overkill..

Look at play.com, tesco, argos.. nothing fancie ;) as theres no need
#18
ill work on it over the next cpl days and let you know when i come up with, cheers
#19
I agree with Superman999 but wanted to say same applies for the name, simple, you want to have the name as few characters as possible, i cant remember the exact lengh but its something like 10 and also try to spell things correctly as if you dont people forget how its spelt and never find it again lol
#20
Yeh name's should be no more than ten characters, Personally speaking now, If a logo is to OTT it looses my attention, i much prefer simple but effective ;)
#21
but how can my logo be kept to 10 characters, when you know what they are calling the business! X)
#22
yeh give or take a few, you're will be fine..

anothing thing to look at is a slogan

Regards to the URL....you want the best key words that potential customers will search for.

if the company name doesn't contain such key words then don't use it as the URL.

If john smith has called his window cleaning company window-bright that's a pretty worthless URL...if john does business in for example Cardiff, then http://www. Cardiff window cleaners.com word be the best URL for his business.

Also company names beginning with "A" are a good way of getting to the top of a directory page or at the front of the relevant section in Yellow pages ect....but if you add a "." at the front of your directory listing it will appear in front of the "A" words eg .zebra will be in front of aardvark

Disco are you a design student?

lol....I very much doubt a design student would come to a shopping forum to ask what font to use in a Logo.
#31
students are always on here asking questions

Yes.....I saw one asking about car insurance just the other day.

Haven't seen many catering students asking for the recipe for toast though.

What you wish you were a design student?

You seem to be doing a lot in this area? if you are interested why not do a course?
I am a fan of education lol :D

Id suggest maybe if funds allow a few books they are the best inspiration, for me anyway. Have fun with the logo
