I must admit, it's been a good day for me :)

Ah damn, i thought i found the perfect girl whose cute, sexy, from Islington, loves bargains and watches football on the weekend but now you've shattered those dreams...... unless you magically start liking footy again. :)

All the results were as i expected today, apart from the Tottenham game, as i bet they would draw and it ruined the whole accumulator...... typical Tottenham, always hating me :p

I predict Arsenal to comfortably win against Fulham tomorrow, even though Arsenal don't do very well in early kick offs.
Unfortunately i can't see Fulham doing too well this season and will have a tough time in a relegation battle, just staying above board.
#9
Oh man, that wasn't a good start by Lehmann :giggle:
#10
No it wasn't!

That's gonna screw up my bet!

6 game Accy for the following teams to win:

Rangers
Celtic
Liverpool
Man Utd
Chelsea
and
Arsenal

And typical enough it looks like it's my team are going to cost me it!

*waves goodbye to my tenner that could have turned into £55!* :(
#11
Arsenal aren't going to lose, we're struggling to get shots on target at the moment but as usual, we start off having to come from behind and we then score to within a short space of time.

Your tenner is safe with Arsenal...... watch. :)
#12
Sorry to hear that T8RSP

Maybes Arsenal could loan one of our 37 strikers lol.
Team seems to be a bit lost, not sure RVP is suited to playing target man, lone striker role......

I can't watch! It's on the radio! Nice blue screen! :-D :giggle:

45 mins to score 2 with one recognised striker! I'm not that good at maths but add to the equation The **** don't sound able to hit a cow's **** with a banjo, it looks like my tenner has well and truely sailed! On Easy Cruises! I don't think you'll get on a cruise for £10! :-D

Not as sorry as me!

Let this be a lesson to you kids! Gambling's a mugs game! It's only the bookies that win etc etc blah blah blah! :giggle:

RVP was in his element in the "big" games with those 2 pre season tournaments. But now, the pressure is on, and he's not handling it well yet!

He does sem lost without someone to play off of. One day we'll get a "fox in the box"!

I'm watching it online :)
As mentioned around these parts before, go to sopcast
Takes a bit of installing and a tiny bit of patience
I'll stay on here if you want help

Not sure if they'll manage two tbh, but, "...it's a funny old game" :)

Download it, and click on install. It installs a client on your pc. Might be best to use IE, since Firefox needs to be tweaked a bit.

Download is here.
It's slow right now, cos folks are using the site to watch games mind

I prefer to use it via the wed player version, that way, i can run the web player and the local client application too, in effect having two streams in case one fails or so i can have two games on, like now with the Chelsea vs Brum game or the Arsenal vs Fulham

WOOOOOOOOOOOO, didn't i say we'd score two in a short space of time, didn't i say? :-D

I know too much about football. :)

Every prediction i've made this weekend has come true, apart from the Tottenham game, which i said would end in a draw.
#21
Arsenal!!!!!:-D :w00t: After Lehmann's stupid error I thought we might lose but it was a good performance from the outfield players!
#22
Why what did Lehmann do, didn't see it
#23
He got the ball from a backpass from the left hand side with Healy closing in. Instead of clearing with either foot, he decided to try and cut back towards his left to return the ball to Clichy, but as he did he kinda slipped (i think i am sparing his blushes) and he cleared the ball but as he did Healy slid in and the ball went in the net from close range. Healy did not strike the ball, it more hit him

It's hard to not say Healy did well, he chased the ball down and slid in well. Not sure if Lehmann was unlucky or being too clever.

Nice set of predictions then RFM :)

Good to see too that your bet is still in T8RSP :)

I didn't see it but people were telling me that he miskicked a backpass (which apparantly hit his other leg) from clichy and then it dropped to Healy to slot into an empty net in under 60 seconds from kick off.

Other than that mistake at the beginning, i felt he did pretty well in the rest of the game:thumbsup:

Not unhappy with Trafford only drawing, i'll take that :)
2nd in the league after weekend 1, Blue Moon-tastic :)

On man yeah, just the post below from the Arsenal Fan reminded me of your bet, sorry :-(

Man Utd drew :w00t: !! Unlucky though, T8RSP :-(

The tackle was bad but I don't think it should of been a straight red

Sorry but everbody knows the league does not take shape until christmas, so the postions so far are a load of *****, as only 1 game has been played.

Don't be sorry :)
Just as a City fan, that might be our zenith :)
And as for taking shape at Christmas, but touché it's only the final league table that is really worthwhile

I can't believe it.........I just can't.......

Celtic seemed to breeze past Falkirk (going by the score as I didn't see any highlights of the match)
Rangers didn't have any trouble in their match (again, no idea how the game went, so going by the score!)
Liverpool leave it late but Gerrard produces the goods
Arsenal snatch victory from the jaws of defeat

So up to here, I feel I can't lose! Like I said, if any team were going to spoil my bet it would be Arsenal, but they won, so on with the next game!

Chelsea are made to work harder than they probably thought they would for their win.

So surely Man Yoo would win! Surely! I mean, it's a banker!

WRONG!

I know it was probably a bad idea to bet (in the first place!) on the first game of the season, but you can't tell me the likes of Birmingham, Reading and Fulham will be challenging for the European places. Villa maybe (as much as it hurts me to say that!) but the others, I personally can't see it.

What made the whole day worse was I could only listen to the games on the Radio as I was out! I'm too used to my Sky! And soon may be too used to my online viewing of games thanks to the tip from boydent999!

I don't mind it too much if there was nothing else, it's hard for me to follow the game especially as the crowd give everything away before the commentator can say anything, and if something happens, the roar of the crowd drowns out the commentators voice so you pick up the last few words which don't really help, such as "I'd like to see that again!" - pretty much rubbing your face in that they have tv screens and video replays and you don't!

So for any betting tips and advice, don't come to me! :)

You trying to wind me up? Cos if you are, you need not try.

Being a City fan is not about expecting your team to win and be successful, it's about laffing at yourself before everyone else does :giggle:

City haven't won anything for over 30 years and, i don't care cos that's how it is.

Finishing low in the table is just fine as long as we stay up, honest that's about the peak of most of our aspirations. Even now having splashed the cash, i don't expect much the season. It's just nice to have some goals for a change.

Support you local team

Just read your post T8RSP. That is unreal how all your best came in and having all the other's doing so. Week 1, plenty more weeks left to recoup :)

any thoughts on the kitson red card?
deffo red to me.37 seconds is vinny jones style!

Thought I'd try and bring this back up! Not just with a bump, nor a bumpity bump, but a few questions!

Has anyone bothered with ordering Setanta? I have and I'm watching The **** play now. Not bad for £9.99 a month in one aspect. Yes you get a few more games, and not just from the Premier League, so this kind of contradicts what I'm about to say. Sky pretty much had to drop their Prem Plus channel. If you bought that early enough, it would have only cost you £50. So basically, if your team were playing 5 times during the season on the channel, you'd "break even" where you would have paid £8 per game including fees etc. Now with what seems to be only 16 exclusive Premier League games to Setanta (I may be wrong with this 16, but I'm going on what I saw on their front page), this seems to be more of a rip off than what Sky were doing. Sky were believed (and probably fairly so) to have the monopoly of the Premier League games, so they've lost the 50 (maybe a few more too, I'm not sure) they had with their Prem Plus channel. But to then give it to Setanta for £10 to get less football is a bit strange, or am I missing something?

Next topic of mine, ticket touting in football.

My local MP (who really should come on here and see all the hot deals! I live in Bath, and we've had the saga of the Bath Spa for what seems like an eternity now. It was completed last year, millions over budget and a laughable number of years behind. He's defended the project all the way, even when they spent £10,000 on "the wrong type of paint" and also had to replace numerous paynes of glass which were damaged by people hurling rocks at them. So as a thank you to the tax payers of Bath, the tax has gone up, so maybe he should come on here, use most of the hot deals, put the items on ebay and pay us back what he owes us with the money he makes!!!).....and now back on to the topic....as I was saying, my local MP Don Foster has highlighted ticket touting in football as a problem that needs to be tackled. Not world peace, not a cure for cancer, but football ticket touting.

Now, I've not been to many HUGE football games. I've been to Highbury, I've been to the new Wembley, I've been to other grounds such as Villa Park, Upton Park and St Mary's. I haven't been to a HUGE game, only basically when a big team comes to down at St Mary's. But I have never seen a ticket tout. I've seen them at many a music gig, even a Madonna one at the Millenium Stadium, a police man walked up to them, had a work and walked away, it may gave even been a bit of a chin wag and a laugh. They did nothing. So how he hopes to do anything when the police's attitude is like that is beyond me!

What I never get with people "hating" ticket touts is the fact they seem to think they have every ticket for that show/event therefore not allowing anyone else to buy one. Obviously that's not the case. They say they stop "true fans" from seeing the show. I'm not so sure. If they are a true fan, they to me would be part of the official fan club, who would give them presale links etc giving them a headstart over the touts for a start. Even if there isn't a presale link, everyone has the same chance of getting tickets. More often than not, 9am on a Friday. If they forget that they are on sale, are they really a true fan? But anyway, if you try to get a ticket, and you don't succeed, sometimes you've got to take it on the chin. If you don't win a competition, you don't complain. Technically, you enter a competition to be able to purchase tickets for a gig, but that may just be my view on it.

I also think the bands/artists are to blame. One that sticks out for me are the Kaiser Chiefs. They had a presale link for their Friday Earls Court gig on their website. They said themselves they were trying to combat the touts by doing this. The show sold out pretty quickly. And within days they added a second date thanks to that fantastic saying "due to pheonominal demand". That's nice of them isn't it? No, it's not.

They made people believe there was only one gig, so people would try and buy tickets for the show, find out it's sold out, and then where do they go? They only have one chance to see them (or so they believe) so they go to somewhere like ebay and buy them for whatever they want to buy them for. Now have they really done their fans much of a favour? I don't think so.

And one last thought on ticket touting, no one HAS to buy a ticket from a tout. The buyer hasn't got a gun pointed at their head. But some people choose to. So isn't it almost taking their freedom of choice away?

Anyway, back to a more football related point. I've never seen a ticket tout at a football game. He says they are rife amongst football stadiums. I personally don't think so. But I'll let him believe what he wants. He's still got his head up in the clouds after the Bath Spa farce.

And one final thought.

Football shirts and squad numbers.

I personally love new football shirts. I look forward to seeing all the new shirts come the start of the season. I don't tend to buy them though. However, I know someone who does like to. He supports quite a few teams, Everton, Rangers and Real Madrid, but he also likes to get the England shirt as well as the Bath City shirt (don't diss! They're my local club too!).

However, they are so expensive still. I thought something was being done about this, or have the prices been lowered to as low as they are going to go?

If I remember correctly, he said it's become a bit stupid of late with the Everton shirt. They've only had very minor changes, such as a bit of extra detailing here and there as well as a change of kit supplier. I believe they've had a new shirt for the last 3 seasons, so that is eaasily over £100 over 3 seasons on 3 new kits alone. They seem to be ripping the fans off there. Again, I know you don't HAVE to buy the shirt, but on the other hand, it is nice to be able to wear your team's colours and be proud to wear the shirt.

I also like to see what shirt/squad number a new signing gets (very sad I know, but that's me!). Admittedly Arsenal only had 2 major signings, Sagna and Eduardo who were assigned the shirt/squad numbers 3 and 9 respectively. However, correct me if I'm wrong, but Manchester United haven't recently signed Rooney have they, that's a few years ago now. So why has he been reassigned a new shirt/squad number? He went from 8 to 10. Maybe Tevez will get the number 8 shirt.....oh no, he's been given the number 32 shirt. Anderson's been given the number 8 shirt in the end.

So the question remains why did that happen? To increase shirt sales by any chance? Possibly. Looks like they are trying to recoup the money they spend on those prawn sandwiches at Old Trafford!

any villa fans out there ?, what u think on our lack of signings so far, let a few squad players go, mccann, hughes, davis (who i think is a good player and we shouldnt of sold) samuel (free i know), angel in jan, ridgewell, we now have no natural right backs as delaney as retired, laursen wont get through a full season. we have some good youngsters i guess, gardener, osbourne coming through with players like agbonlahor, young, moore etc.

reo-coker looks an excellent, if him and petrov can gel well, could be a good central partnership, and barry on the left who shud be in the england squad harewood not sure on his signing, carew hopefully will kick on this season too and see what maloney can do as well.

think will be chelsea's season this year though, but i think liverpool could make a challenege to them and man utd though, cant see arsenal doing much though, man city for sure top 10 finish, everton look good too, so many teams after top 3 who could easy challenge for uefa cup places and even that 4th champions league spot! villa for fa cup though! lol

C Ronaldo got a straight red for a headbutt! :giggle: Man Utd and Spurs haven't got off to the best starts:w00t: but they'll probably still do well but this season is already looking so unpredictable and it's looking like one of the best ever.
