Roy Keane held his club ransom and many fans across the country (obviously united fans since they're everywhere lol) were requesting the staff to accept the terms, as it would cost at least £10m to bring in a suitable replacement plus a high salary which would not be much less.

This prompted many other players to hold their clubs randsom, including Flamini, who was converted from a bit part player to indespensible within a single season, only to move to Milan at the end of the season, who offered him a lucrative contract, plus £4m signing on fee.
