Just had some work done on my car the exhaust was knocking so had it secured properly.

Also the breaks started grating and apparently it was due to the pads being uneven causing uneven wear. But the breaking with them was excellent, now they've been sorted it feels like i've got no breaks. My girl friends is like that too. is this how the breaks are supposed to be?

If you have just had the pads done sometimes they take time to wear in thats in all cars so you should be extra carefull for a while. When did you have them fitted?

500 miles is the usual benchmark. Given you time to use the breaks normally. Though this obviously different dependant on motorway/town driving.

this is why the aa driving school only keep focus' for 6 months and then replace them

I only had them done yesterday!

I'll have to open door and stick my foot out to slow me down!

jus do a bit of hard braking and will start to feel normal again.

NO Do not do any hard breaking you may warp the discs or cause the pads to over heat and make them worse.

be patient wear them in and stop driving like you stole it

Just take it steady for the first 200 miles.

brakes need to bedded in slowly NO harsh braking for 500 miles at least and try not to brake for long periods of time for eg. when decreasing from high speeds
