Hi people would appreciate if anyone can tell me how i can format in fat32 file system. Im trying to format a external drive that used to be in my ps3 and ive already formatted it in ntfs but vista wont allow me to format in fat32 because its 60gb hdd. Tried doing it through dos and it says volume too big anyone have any ideas thanks.

Standard Microsoft formatting tools limit the partition size on a FAT32 drive to 32GB if i recall correctly - I think third party tools can format larger partitions, or you could just create 2 smaller partitions?

I used Swiss Knife v3 to format my PS3 HD to FAT32 - tiny app, and did the job just fine (was on XP)

had same problem a week ago and had to do it on xp using the same program as dancrawley! worked a treat n connects to my ps3 fine!

i have a 250gb western digital passport and the whole disk is formatted fat32

Thanks people for the replies but the above link done it for me only took 1 sec and hassle free been struggling for the last hour with hdd. Thanks Jamstaruk.
