I'm not a Chelsea fan by any means, but he was an outstanding player and a blimmin' nice bloke too by all accounts.

Class player, one of the best English Players of the Premier League era and probably good enough even to make the Welsh squad! :)

Class player, Got a lot of respect for Lampard. He was genuinely in the same class as Paul Scholes.

Everyone knew when Scholes had tackled them because they were sore the next morning.

As a Chelsea fan I can honestly say one of the best players ever to pull on the Blue shirt, and as previous comments a really nice guy. Wish him all the best, but I have a feeling we will be seeing him on a touchline somewhere before long.

Everyone knew when Scholes had tackled them because they were in hospital the next morning.

Lampard comes across as a decent guy without ego.

Alli comes across as a petulant spoilt kid on the pitch with a very nasty streak.

Looks like today is the day for London football legends to end their careers. COYS!!

What's all this talk of him being a decent guy...

There's the video with Dyer and Ferdinand, multiple cheating on the mother of his two children (along with throwing them out of their home), the antics after 9/11, very likely getting multiple managers sacked, to top it all he's close friends with John Terry!

Very good footballer though.

I think that a footballer retiring is a bit like a death to the average supporter. And, of course, we never speak ill of the dead; at least, not until a few weeks have passed.
