Frankie Boyle jokes about Down's Syndrome Victims

Comedian Frankie Boyle had an on-stage run-in with a mother of a Down's syndrome child after he made fun of victims.

Unacceptable as far as I am concerned,he should simply apologise and admit he went too far

Sensitive subject so no trolling please

Surprised its the first time this has happened.

Comedians take the p**s out of all ilnesses in pretty much every routine.

Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle, Ricky Gervais to name a few.

a 113-date tour, titled, I Would Happily Punch Every One Of You In The Face, which is almost sold out.

It's FRANKIE BOYLE! He makes jokes about sensitive subjects. As do a large number of other stand up comedians.

Yes you may find it offensive, but you didn't pay to see the gig, so it doesn't affect you at all. And anyone that DID pay to see him live and not know what to expect is prettty daft.

It's not a story and it's certainly NOT news

Anyone who goes to a Frankie Boyle show thinking they wont be offended at some stage is pretty naive. Typical daily mail story
#7
Go to see a tasteless comedian then you gotta expect tasteless jokes....
#8
keep on Frankie, too many politically correct left wing nonsense in this country, if she didnt like the joke she could have simply foxtrot oscared, but no she had to gob off. bad enough that stupid swimmer got him banned from the BBC.
#9
Pretty hypocritical tbh, I bet that couple would have laughed if it was a different disability he was mocking.

He didn't get banned he walked away. Because of stupid controversy like this and the incident with the swimmer's nose.

The censorship on the BBC is apparently pretty horrific and is one of the reasons we are seeing less "good" stand ups appearing on there. It's a shame

The Mail, Express, Sun etc are all to blame.

to be honest i think Frankie boyle is **** anyhow
[mod]#14
If you go to see a comedian of his nature, you need to be able to "put up" with it. It is a different matter in ordinary dealings with society.

No one singled out Ricky Gervais on his "politics" tour. He made some very offensive comments. Although I find him hilarious.
#15
end of the day all jokes he tells will be offensive to some and funny to others. e.g. gay people will be offended by gay jokes where as I wouldn't be, its the same situation here just a different subject thats all. When he tells jokes about people in the armed forces, some people get offended and others don't, what's different here?

Free speech!? Trying defaming someone and then claim you were only "freely speaking".

You're right there - I used to think he was funny - got his autobiography and it was a chore trying to read it - pile of kack. Didn't even finish it. He's got some serious issues and think he's trying to make light of it through his work. It'll all end in tears!

The main difference as far as I am concerned that is if you are mocking fat peeps/gays/lesbians/blacks/whites/ugly people etc etc is that they are in a position to understand what is being said about them and they can defend themselves/answer back....a person with down's syndrome generally cannot.

I defame you,

Magic does not exist and therefore you are certainly not magic, its quite lamentable that you would even consider yourself magic. What kind of washed out, blinkered, crazy horse mind do you possess?

I'm speaking freely btw

i know where you're coming from but what about blind people? or deaf people who have jokes said about them all the time by comedians?

it's where you draw the line thats all.

im not pro his jokes but im not against them either.

Why have you got a picture of the queen as your avatar?

On topic, I think everything is up for a comic jibe. It's pointless suppressing a natural human urge to take the ****.

I really feel for the mum. She didnt want this to happen and feels she didnt stand up for her daughter. Think any mum would feel like this. I think the article is a very poignant reminder to us all that people with disabilities shouldnt be mocked for other peoples enjoyment.
I agree with boothy making jokes about the irish, scottish, women, blacks, gays etc whilst can cause offence to some people, most would be able to laugh it off or give as good as they got. Unfortunately someone with downs cant. I wonder if we would all laugh as much if we had a younger sister or child with the condition. It does make you think.
#29
If anyone has tickets and DOESN'T want to go then i will gladly take them off your hands... i am despertate to see him and i can't get a ticket for love nor money... the guy is funny as ****...
the world needs more people like him ( and Les Dawson ) who don't give a crap about who they offend - we are too PC for own good... like someone has already pointed out - if you don't like his jokes - don't go to see him !!!!

I have seen this show on the opening night of the tour, like many others have said,if you go to a frankie boyle show then you can expect ANYONE to be a target and his material will be offensive-the current tour opens with a whole section about jade goody, moves on to kerry katona, and basically just gets more extreme from there. He also has stated and repeats on stage-this is his last tour-he has made millions and he absolutely does not care what ANYONE thinks of his material-end of story.

He also explains his decision to walk away from the bbc-its not to do with the rebecca adlington joke,or the one about the queen, its regarding a joke he told on mock the week about madeleine mccann which he was furious they cut out.

He is onstage for 90 minutes, and believe me,there is not ONE single joke you could repeat on this forum-I am sure he will not lose any sleep over this incident-he simply doesnt care.

The mother of the downs syndrome child must have known what kind of material to expect-would be interesting to know if she was happy to laugh at the first 50 minutes of the routine before he got into this particular section wouldnt it. Is she happy to laugh at other people being ripped to pieces but not when its close to home? I assume so since she clearly wasnt offended enough to leave within the first 50 minutes.

Sheer hypocrisy on her part-I cant even believe the tabloids would run an article about frankie being offensive-we KNOW he is!

exactly

The person who flagged the issue of the "freedom of free speech" either needs to be more specific or not talk such nonsense.

I could freely speak and call someone famous a paedophile. As long as the criteria is met, defamation and in particular slander.

There isnt "freedom of free speech" in this country.

You would have to pay me to watch this ugly 4 eyed geek perform.

Some people find its ok to laugh at others until it effects them....if you cant laugh at yourself as well as others then just dont bother going at all.
