Google are giving away essential software for your PC free of charge.

Software includes Norton, Picasa, Firefox and many more.

First deal so take it easy :)

Moved to misc forum... we generally do not allow software / downloads as freebie posts. Do you have a link to this?

This Google pack has been available for at least a year.

I think all the software in the pack is free anyway, Picasa certainly is, as is Firefox, RealPlayer, Adobe Reader and OpenOffice.

I think Google have set this up as an "anti-Microsoft" pack, to show that you dont always need to use software from Microsoft when all this is available from Google.

my laptop came with this pack, it's pretty good it automatically downloads (when you click ok) updates and new available software

I would choose foxit over adobe reader and VLC player over Realplayer (use floola for ipods) as both those can be memory hogs, otherwise pretty good deal.

Also Abiword is a good Word alternative (and openoffice has some cool stuff).

Must check out foxit

I would also recommend K-Lite Codec, installs a basic version of windows media player and loads of codecs do you can playy 99% of movie / video / music files and is not resourse hungry like quicktime or real player and you do not all the "other" stuff that such apps instal as well !
