Simple - just vote for AV tomorrow and you get a fairer democracy.

Check how much more your vote will count for under AV by clicking on the deal link and entering your post code.

No babies or soldiers will be harmed.

Elaborate please! Why?

The case hasn't been made to change it. I also think the turnout is going to be so low that it probably shouldn't be adopted anyway.

To be fair AV means no one gets their first choice :|

Someone will but it won't be the majority.

It's very simple really. If I make one vote for one party, then that is the party I wish to become elected based on my interpretation of their values, offers, strategies and plans.

With an AV vote, your vote can get transferred to another party which you might not want to be in power.

I had a leaflet put through my door which was an unbiased explanation of how the AV vote would work. Personally, I don't agree with it. If you do, that's fine. That's your legal and moral right and your choice. It doesn't make either of us right or wrong just because out opinions differ :)

im voting yes,,,and so will the wife because she doesn't have a clue like most people.

Also to those that are confused vote yes because the yes supporters have admitted to lying about the actual cost of implementing the AV.

Shame this got moved from freebies to misc - I was hoping for a little mini poll.

Seems like it'd be pretty cold judging by the comments though.

Bull **** who posts leaflets with an unbiased opinion, scan and post on here or you're talking ****.

I'm voting yes, my vote is otherwise wasted in my Ultrasafe Labour constituency.

Lumoruk, you think by calling me names and being abusive, you'll get what you want? My my, what a spoilt child you are. What a shame.
#15
After you place a 1 next to your preferred politician do you have to rank the others (2,3,4,...) or is this optional?

Easy tiger! You are entirely entitled to your opinion, and have made a good case to back it up - so you won't get any stick from me just because I don't agree!

You don't have to put down a second or third choice if you don't want to - so if you are happy with the current system, just mark one choice and nothing changes!

If however, once your first choice has been ruled out, you have a preference between the remaining parties (like if you preferred the Lib dems to the BNP), you can put down a second choice, and have further influence. Bargain!

I had a leaflet probably not the same one but it said if you vote yes to AV, then that means smaller parties have a better chance winning, so will be voting No to AV

I know there's a he'll of a lot of people who have been waiting for me to decide, so they can vote the same as the great VB1. Well now is the time for me to officially announce how I will be voting:

VB1 says NO to AV. AV is a pointless change that no one really wants - not even the libdems. It's a Micky mouse half measure anyway, and finally, the yes voters are all really annoying.

VOTE NO TO AV TOMORROW!!!!

never thought i'd agree with you two lol but totally agree and because its going to cost £250M + to implement,.

my local seat is a safe labour seat no matter who we vote for, i will be voting no tomorow

NO to AV for me tomorrow too. whilst it may guarantee someone wins with over 50% of the vote it still does not make them the most popular choice, as they will be some peoples second third or even 4th choice for election. Stick with what we have, no point in changing!

It was, but it went in the recycling the same day after I'd read it and this was about 2 months ago. Thank you very much for posting the link and for taking the time to search for it for the benefit of others (especially those who wish to be abusive and call me a liar when they have no idea what they're talking about). Much appreciated!

still does not make them the most popular choice, as they will be some peoples second third or even 4th choice for election. Stick with what we have, no point in changing!

The problem is there are millions of people in this country who vote for "Party A" to stop "Party B" from gaining power, but in actual fact would prefer to vote for "Party C" or even "Party D". Under AV they can vote for "C" or even "D" but still vote for "A" but never for "B".

Fair play, if other people do not want C or D and only your A vote is counted, then yeah, it is a shame, but at least you had your hat in the ring your vote was never wasted. Under FFTP you do not have any choice if you want to prevent B, you have to vote A as that is what everyone else is doing, if you voted for C or D your vote would be wasted.

-edit

Sorry, quoted you to directly reply to this part "still does not make them the most popular choice". That is wrong, AV actually ensures that the most popular choice by the most people wins. The least unpopular party will win. More people will be happy, more peoples vote would of meant something. Don't understand how this is a bad thing?

Which option means less chance of the Tories getting in power?

I predict there won't be a chance in hell AV will win. Nobody is interested, nobody is talking about it, think I've seen one facebook status mention it and not heard any discussion at work.

I dont think people understand that if you like one party you dont give them a vote. You only vote for who you want in preference order. A few years ago I would have liked to vote for labour and lib-dems but wouldnt vote conservative.

If i get a chance to vote ill vote, however, im at uni for most of the day

I hope AV does win, will stop this whole "jobs for life" business which is really pathetic.
#40
I'm voting AV, doesnt make much difference for me though the sheeple in my area ALWAYS vote for labour regardless.
