Just received an email about new changes to Egg Money card. The most important ones are the following insurances which are fantastic imo. This makes it THE best cashback credit card (1% flat) compared to American Express as it only pays 0.5% for purchases below £3500 (specially as many retailers don't accept AE).

A range of new insurances
We're adding some new insurances as standard, effective from 15 May 2009. These are all designed to offer extra protection on the things you buy:

- Price promise: buy an item using your Egg Money card anywhere in the world and if you find it cheaper within 30 days, we'll refund the difference.
- Extended warranty: use your card to buy any electrical item and get 12 months' additional warranty after the manufacturer's warranty expires.
- Purchase protection: buy items with your Egg Money card anywhere in the world and you're covered against theft, loss or damage for 90 days after purchase.
- Event cover: book event tickets using your Egg Money card and you're covered if you're unable to attend.

Extended warranties can worth more than £100 ain't it! :whistling:

I thought that the 1% cashback would be 'simplified' - but it hasn't!

Is the card fee free, no interest on purchases etc. ? Only good if someone pays off the full outstanding balance each month which few do so probably hidden in the charges somewhere

To clarify: 'simplified' is an Orange term for 'getting rid of good things'....

The downside is that they've changed the interest rate on positive balances from 4% to 0.5%. (gross AER). :x

Mainly because everyone, including myself, had shovelled all their savings onto the card because it was the best interest rate going around!!

Oh well... best move it back into a saving accounts again now.

I have an egg money card and got the same email. I'm very pleased as I was looking for a card with price protection and couldn't find any. A great product if you pay off in full each month
