for the first time ever sky will be airing some of its pay tv services on regular free to view digital tv....detailsto follow

Sky has announced that it will make selected pay TV programmes and content free-to-air on Sky3 for one weekend in September.

Running from September 18 to 20, the Sky Free Weekend Pass campaign will bring premium content from Sky Sports, MTV, Disney, Sky Movies and Sky Arts to anyone with a digital TV.

Programming on offer includes live rugby union from the Guinness Premiership courtesy of Sky Sports, blockbuster movie I Am Legend from Sky Movies and documentary series Wild Russia from the National Geographic Channel.

ESPN, Good Food, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Sky Real Lives will also lend premium content for the weekend, with much of this programming being available for the first time ever on free-to-air television.

Can you imagine how many "Subscribe to $ky" adverts/promos/inserts there will be......I can't watch any of the Freeview $ky channels for that reason.

I assume Virgin customers won't get them, is it just for Sky?

It's on Sky3. If you get Sky3 on Virgin you'll get it. If not you won't.

This is the rugby:
SPORT: Guinness Premiership: Leicester v Newcastle
On: Sky3 (11)
Date: Saturday 19th September 2009 (starting in 28 days)
Time: 17:30 to 19:30 (2 hours long)

There's no soccer listed yet.

looks like the rumours are true then sky is getting desperate because so many people have cancelled there packages for a cheaper option, i reduced my last month from £60 to £30 as i was fed up paying for sports then getting told the match i wanna see is on another ppv channel and with all the repeats they show i couldnt justify it anymore...
#21
Hey, thanks for the info :)

there appears to be some confusion but i dont quite understand how......like it says in the op sky is going to be available on FREEVIEW so that is ANY digital set top box or TV that can receive FREE VIEW channels
#24
Even if you dont have sky, virgin or freeview. You got internet :)

A little harsh... Maybe a rewording of the header might have been more appropriate?!?

No it was completely misleading and just flat out wrong.

That is not free sat at all, that is freesat from sky which is completely different.

Sky 3 is not on freesat so it is not available for 'ANY' digital TV.

ok dont quite know what you are trying to achieve but hope you are satisfied that more people are not gonna notice this in some strange way:?

strange selfish behaviour

ill edit nothing........until you show me 100% that these channels are not going to be shown on any digital tv like the sky press release states

like i said i really dont know what you are attempting to achieve or the point you are trying to make?

expiring a post with the comments you made makes you look like a tool not me:thumbsup:

i highlighted the any because people kept asking if they needed sky or if they could get it on virgin......helping people
#39
Look at the link I just gave you, sky 3 is not broadcast on freesat, so the programs cannot be shown on a channel that isn't there.
