Free replacement Sky HD box - strings attached

£0.00 @
Just been invited by Sky via letter to exchange my old HD box for a free replacement. Just wondering if there are any catches; small print suggests not but would rather hear from the experts here.

You are tied into a 12 month contract with them. Had mine replaced they wanted to replace the dish as well but told them where to go (old house, bad tiles).

I cancelled my 3 month free HD subscription soon after with no problems :) They had trouble putting it through the system originally as I bought my old HD box.

Oh and you don't need HD subscription to use Sky Anytime+ as they told me, still works fine here.

I am tempted because my old box is not compatable to receive Sky+ Anytime. However, I am not keen to be tied into a contract when I could haggle for better deals in the future.

Just phoned them. If you accept the offer of a new box you are agreeing to continue the Sky package that you are currently on for a further 12 months. Of course you can upgrade but if you cancel you may be liable for all of the set up costs etc of the new box.

Old box will be taken by the engineer when he delivers the new one.

lol..... Thats what you think!

(brb ringing sky to check again!) X)

I cancelled my sub..... should be switched off today after a 12 month 1/2 price full package on no HD charge. The best they could offer was 6 months half price - but PAY for HD! WTF - GTFO.

So I'm just on the card share route from now on.
