  Regardless of the fact that people have been doing this regularly since before long before I was born, it's all somewhat irrelevant as all stamps sold nowadays have measures to prevent this:

  Have you looked it they have been marked? Hold the stamp at an angle and look to see if it has a stripe down the stamp.

  To be fair, I haven't tried. I just presumed they work efficiently enough that it's more grief than it's worth!

  The anti-tamper thing is epic fail.
  
  Tip: The best way to remove them is lob them in the freezer for a while the stamps come off a doddle as the glue weakens.
  
  Our postie is a git though because if he notices one unfranked he scribbles on it with biro.

  Up to a few years ago this was considered treason, you could have been hanged for it now its just plain old fraud so lost some of its magic.

  Used to cover them with a film of soapy water back in the day. I had a mate who always drew a stamp-sized cartoon of the queen with Kween written under it & they always got through!

  Also you no longer can be prosecuted for posting letters with stamps/queens head upside down so all you rebels out there know what to do

  Strange... you put up a post regarding copying DS/PS3/Xbox games and youre burned down for being a dirty rotten filthy pirate... yet you commit fraud on the back of our own Royal Mail service and everyones 'yeh, weyhey, nice one' lol !

  Well there wont be any ink franking on the envelope with electronic franking. Just had a look at at the stamps on the post I have and they have all been marked. You must have been lucky or you have not checked properly.

  May be free for you but not so free for the person receiving your letter with a £1+ payment noticed due to invalid postage if it registers as used

  Lol most of my post never gets ink stamped, I always reuse the stamps lol I can't remember the last time I bought a stamp
