Slimming World is excellent, well worth going weekly.

You get full access to their members website, which is very useful.

£5 to join and £4.50 a week from then on.

Joined 2 weeks ago first time ever and have lost 8lbs in 2 weeks. I am a very fussy eater but haven't gone hungry at all.

Hope this helps someone

mmmm. Looks good. Might try this for a week. My friend lost loads on this diet and was really impressed with it. I was doing WW at the time and it did work for me, unlike Rosemary Connelly. This defintatley has things I would like to eat though.

Looks Good :)

I recommend the Swede-topped cottage pie and the Chicken Tikka Masala - gorgeous! Found the spag. bol a bit bland, so add something to give it a kick. I've been doing SW with my sister for 2 and a bit weeks and I've lost 5lb so far. Not in a club, just giving it ago at home. Good luck to all who want to loose weight.

I will eventually go to S/W or W/W but not for a while yet, maybe next yr. I'll ask nearer to to the time which 1 to choose if both are in my town cos it need to be 1 thats good for vegetarians also.

The password? For www.slimmingworld.com? Oh no, that would be wrong - the group password this week is not 'lentil' :giggle:

Deffo go for SW over WW, especially if your vegetarian. On green days you can have as much fruit and veg as you want and as much potatoes, pasta, rice, couscous as you want and most of the quorn stuff like the burgers, chicken slice, mince and chicken pieces are all free, too.

Hope this helps

I did the Slimming Wolrd diet years ago and lost about 4 and a half stone.
Over the years this all crept back on, so I am trying it again.

I'm trying it for myself, but if I lose interest (as I often do), I may rejoin.

I'm in favour of somebody posting the password too!
Bit cheeky!

I joined SW 14 weeks ago and have so far lost 1 stone 2.5 lbs and more importantly I am now 1 dress size smaller.

You really dont go hungry.

My mum has been a group member for just over a year and she is a veggie, it works really well too, She eats fish though so still does lots of red days too.

Me an my OH joined slimming world near the end of last year! Unfortunately we haven't been for the last month, due to me getting a placement as part of my Uni course so can't get to the SW meetings!

I have some fab receipes that i have picked up while doing SW - like your own style Ferrero Rochers  , Sweet Potato & Spinach Curry, crisps made from lasagne sheets and so much more!! Happy to share receipes if anyone wants them.

I know what you mean about not being able to get to the meetings.

I am at university during the day and at work on an evening. It would be ideal for me if they allowed you to change where you go for the meetings each week, but they don't :?
So this makes it very hard for people who move about to different places to get to.

Does anybody know if the tins of meatballs are still free on a red day?
I know they used to be, but can't seem to find them on the website.
Yes, I know they are pretty disgusting, but I like them in an odd kind of way

Good look to you all in losing the weight x x

300ml/1/2 pint of Vegetable stock or chicken stock made from Bovril
750g/1lb 10oz Sweet Potatoes (peeled & cut into bite size wedges/cubes)
1 Onion (Peeled, halved & thinly sliced)
225g/8oz Baby Spinach leaves
2 Garlic Cloves (peeled & thinly sliced)
1 Red Chilli (deseeded & thinly sliced)
1 tbsp medium or hot curry powder
4 Ripe Plum Tomatoes (chopped)
Salt & freshly ground black pepper for seasoning.

Instructions

1) Place stock in a large saucepan and add the sweet potatoes and onion. Bring to the boil, reduce the heat, cover and gently cook for 4-5mins.
2) Add the spinach, garlic, chilli, curry powder and tomatoes to the saucepan, stir well and cook over a medium heat for 10 minutes or until the spinach has just wilted and the sweet potatoes are tender. Season well and serve hot.

They DO let you change what meetings you go to, I was told to do this if I needed to go a different time or whatever.

Hope this helps

It may depend on the place. To be honest, the last time I was at a meeting, the host was incredibly like Marjory Dawes from Little Britain. it was her who told me that I could only attend the one class.
I think I'll look into that! Thanks Mrs.Z

I have also found a pretty good website for recipes.

#25
lol surely you dont need to pay some 'slimming group' to tell you not to eat pies and to eat some fruit instead???? The internet is chocka with FREE low fat recipes! Just search!

The BBC site is really good if you are wanting help. The message boards are quite good for ideas and there are loads of recipes available. There is also an option to watch cookery shows and chefs preparing things.

There's also UKTV food, which has quite alot of recipes.
Sainsburys has the Jamie Oliver Recipes available for free to pick up in store. Some of them are fine for trying to slim down.

As for the pie thing - I really hate pastry :w00t:
