When I got home today Argos had deliverd a Sony 40 inch lcd tv. My wife had signed for it. it is exactly the same as the one I ordered and had delivered last week. Should I own up? I have checked my bank and only one payment has been taken.

Someone in the warehouse might have sent a duplicate or the system might have ended up creating duplicate orders. They should be able to track that as normally companies would do regular stock checks and as long as they have a proper recording mech in place they will be able to trace the duplicate delivery. Even if they dont someone's job might get in trouble if you decide to keep the TV, so my advise, give it back

Have you signed for both?

R U mad? :giggle:

I would keep it for now but not open the box
#8
Similar thing has happend to me, got a SE C902 sent out for my Faulty Samsung Tocco, still have the Tocco and all that is wrong is the camera is a little blurry (but can be fixed when editing the photo).
#9
Keep it. Dont contact them and wait and see if they contact you!! Argos rip people off everyday so sont feel bad.
#10
yea i would do wot mrs.z said.leave it the box for a week or so.if you dont hear anything. bonus!
#11
had you not signed for it I think you could 'technically' have gotten away with not owning up, but as it stands if they spot the mistake they're going to follow the paper trail right back to you and either ask for the TV back or the money to pay for it - I think you have two realistic options here... sit with a free TV all boxed up just in case they come and ask for it back, or own up!

OOeerr my wife says we should call and explain.

keep it for now - see how good their auditors are!!

will they miss it.....

The owner of Argos and Homebase has revealed annual profits at the top end of forecasts, at £376.7m.

That was despite challenging conditions for consumer spending, said Home Retail Group.

Britain's biggest household goods retailer said a 2.4% rise in like-for-like sales at Argos more than made up for a 1.4% fall at Homebase.

Total sales for the group rose 6% to just under £5.9bn

I'd do the honest thing and take it back.

And then I'd go to the customer service desk and tell them I don't want it anymore, show them the receipt and point to the bit on the back about the no quibble return policy, and ask them nicely for a refund.
#16
I used to work for a courier firm, it generally takes about 2 weeks for big firms to notice something amiss. But in your case I believe they will over look it as it will show on their system that your goods have been delivered.
Keep hold of the TV for a few weeks, they will contact you in next 2 - 3 weeks if they spot the mistake.

they did the same with me when I ordered an ironing board, another one arrived a few days later. They never came back for it so I gave it away.
#27
I would leave it boxed up for at least a month. If nothing comes of it after then, do as you like, its yours!

Put it up for a free prize draw, right here on HUKD. Pick a random username (Scream) and send them the TV. I'd be happy to organise it for you...:-D (Thats "Scream" by the way...capital "S")
#31
put it on e-bay. let everyone fight over it
#32
Keep it, they wont miss it. Serves them right-it aint your fault. I would keep it sealed for a month or 2 then after that, flog it

Hmmm, just checked the address in the paperwork and it´s not ours. Very similiar but not us and a different postcode too. In fact that street is across town.

law states that if you didn't order it you have to give them a reasonable period of time to collect it, after this time it becomes your property. IIRC the period is about 2 weeks but i would google it if i were you

What about my situation? They haven't requested it back. (sorry to jump in on thread)

As with most folk here .I'd say leave it boxed up in the garage or wherever and wait for them to contact you . If they dont after 8 or 9 months ...............it's yours .

What a coincidence, and someone even had the cheek to use your wifes name to sign it at wherever the courier delivered it to :whistling:

I'd keep it and send the original one back for a refund. Worst comes to the worst youll have to pay for it. Can't see how though beens as it wasn't even delivered to your address:thumbsup:
