I can confirm it works an absolute treat! (just did it on my k850)

It took me a while to work it out so here's the run down:

Download software

Open software

Hit settings and fill in your user and password

Select phone from drop down lick and press unlock.

Turn your phone off, remove the battery and put it back in (DON'T TURN IT BACK ON)

connect the USB cable whilst you hold 2 and 5 on the keypad

if it comes up with software installer, navigate to the drivers dirctory that comes with the software download. it will then install generic USB drivers.

Let it run. when complete it will say successful with a green tick and you can disconnect.
You phone is now unlocked :)
Rep for you shane!

Neat - this looks easy. So to confirm, this will unlock my K850i with 3? It won't remove the 3 software though, will it?

Cool - so do I need to debrand too if I want to use a SIM other than 3? and I can keep using 3 as usual until then? (repped btw - thanks )

once its unlocked you can use any sim you want. It doesnt need to be debranded to use a diff network sim, though im sure there are ways to debrand it if you really want.

and even better - just remembered that the spare 3 phone is a k660 - so that has now been unlocked too. You guys are great - just what I needed as renewal contracts are coming up soon and I was considering o2 simplicity SIMs. Now I'm all set

i guess the second question is do you need an active internet connection whilst unlocking or can the required files be downloaded?

that is if any files do need downlading.

Nothing changed on either of my phones at all, except that they now accept all SIMs - nothing is formatted

Well, you have to choose from a drop-down box which model of phone you are flashing, so unless there is some way of confirming that the flash for another model will work on the K810i, then I wouldn't take the chance if I were you. Although having watched the process both times (it tells you what it is doing as it happens), I would guess that it won't harm the phone, it will just be unable to flash it and report the attempt as unsuccessful.

I have a k800i I'd like to unlock too...
#39
chances are it will just fail but not harm the phone. I cant guarantee that tho

Cheers!! just unlocked my w890i
