Looking to start freelancing of a weekend/evening, I have signed up to PeoplePerHour but haven't won any jobs yet, so I am looking to try and find more websites to find work.

Can anybody recommend any freelance websites for software developers that are reliable please? Does anybody have any experience of such websites?

Thanks

freelancer.com, elance.com, digitalpoint.com (forums).

Unless you're willing to work for £20-£50 (depending on what you do), you won't get many jobs I am afraid. I started out by doing free websites for friends and a hukd member, and now run a successful company.

You need lots of dedication and to offer something different to get anywhere. What kind of software development do you do and what can you offer e.g. experience, contacts etc. If you would like a chat about what you can do to get work and the rules and regulations, pm me and I am more than happy to run through these things.

Mark been meaning to email you for a while. will try and get one sent off next week ;)

Hi I currently work as a ms access developer but can code in a lot more langauges my main ones being html, php, mysql, sql, oracle, .net, facebook integration/apps, and some sage integration.

I graduated from university last year so have a degree in computing and 2 years experience as a ms access developer / network admin.

Thanks for the sites I will have a look at them now, will send you a PM about the rules and regs as that would be some great and useful information. I'm not really looking to do this full time but just something to supliment my full time job really.

Hi,

You could try any of the suggestions in this thread:

Also [ http://People4Business.com ], or [ http://vworker.com ].

As faevilangel has hinted though, unless you offer your services for a cheap rate per hour/day then you will be overlooked, but equally if you are too low & have no established history/feedback then you will also be ignored.

You could try building up your feedback by offering to work for free for the first couple of assignments, & then start to increase your rates when you have some recommendations within your profile history.

Alternatively, you could take, say, a two week holiday from your full time position to cover a previously secured & conventional contract-based freelance assignment that pays in excess of your usual daily rate (permanent salary).

BFN,

fp.
