Freesat PVR

Is there such a thing, and can Freesat use a Sky Digital dish without needing re-alignment?
I'd like to dump Sky+ for a free alternative that works without needing to pay a £10pm subscription for the recording features that should work out of the box. It will also be nice to have a whole HDD that isn't split down the middle for 'Anytime' advertising. TIA

Yes, you can use the same dish set up, and yes there is a Freesat PVR, however there are not any available anywhere as far as I am aware.

They are only made by Humax, and cost around £300, they are HD, the one at Lidl's was not strictly speaking a " Freesat " one.

That PVR is for HD though.

If you are not bothered about the HD channels, you can buy much cheaper. They just wont be "Freesat" branded.

My TV isn't HD, so i'm not too bothered about that (yet). I just want to erase the £19.50pm for Sky+ and still have the recording features. I'll then sell the Sky+ box to part pay for the freesat one :)

Something like this will do the trick then @ £69

Just add USB hard drive.

It is.

And if you use it properly, it opens up a whole new world of satellite.

Can you not just use the sky+ box for your free sat?

Just buy a freesat viewing card from sky for £20

Wouldn't he need a bigger dish and an LNB to use that to any effect?
