Freeview / Dvd Recorder Advice................

I have a Toshiba Regza TV that has built in Freeview. We do not have a Sky Box or anything like that but would like some way of recording programmes and then the option of putting them on a dvd disc if wanted. There are that may different products and models out at the moment that a little advice would be greatly appreciated. (Im not tech minded at all!) Not looking for anything with lots of features, just being able to record, playback and possibly put onto disc. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

The Toshiba Regza TV range is not capable of recording freeview, what you would need to puchase is a Freeview PVR (Personal Video Recorder) available from places like ASDA, Argos etc.

The come with or without a DVD writer included, but obviously models that include a DVD writer are more expensive.

Here is one such example...(if the link works)

DONT buy a DVD recorder , there rubbish . How can I say such a thing ?? Well , I have 4 them here at home , 1 x Philips , 2 x Panasonic , 1 x Tatung . They didn't last very long and suddenly stopped writing to disks or even reading them . The solution was to buy a HDD/DVD recorder . Brilliant device's these are . Record what you want directly to the built in HDD , you can play over and over again without any problems . You an even edit the footage . ie ,take out the comercials for instance . If you want to keep your recording ,them simply copy/dub your footage to the built in DVD recorder and write to disk .My model is a LiteOn .

i had a samsung dvd recorder a couple of years ago and it was complete and utter rubbish! it lasted all of a year or so before it refused to record anything. went straight in the bin!
i'd get what ricko has suggested OP. i'm using playtv through my ps3 to record tv at the mo which is great, the only thing is that it doesn't record sky which can be a bit annoying. may have to get sky + at some point
