Freeview Query

Hi - This may seem like a daft question.

I went round to my mother in laws yesterday to re-tune her freeview box as we live in the North West and had the final stage of the digital switch over yesterday. However after re-tuning the box I am unable to find ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 along with several other free ti view channels that she was able to pick up previously. She also has a small tv with built in freeviw in the kitchen that is also not picking up the channels.

Now for my daft question - I'm trying to think of all possiblities as to why she cant pick up the channels. One that crossed my mind was that she didn't have a digital aerial. Is that possible or would she not be able to pick anything up at all via the freeview box if she only had an old style aerial? Any ideas why I cant find the channels mentioned above?

I am in the north west. The tv in my bedroom, I had to re-tune twice, as the first time I too had no ITV channels.
It's working fine now and it's on an indoor ariel.:)

'Digital Aerials' don't exist. Anyone telling you that you need a digital aerial is trying to con you. Our 20+ year old roof aerial picks up all of the freeview channels.

It's more likely that the current aerial needs to be repositioned or the signal from it boosted.

It might be worth checking the quality of the coax cables & connectors.

true but you do get high band aeriels which can offer a better reception for digital I believe
