I'm watching Kill It, Cook It, Eat It on iPlayer at the moment, and it's the episode about killing, preparing, cooking and eating cute wee bunny rabbits.

Anyway, it's giving me a thought. There's loads of rabbits around where I work. Perhaps some evening after work, I could catch one, take it home, and have myself a tasty fresh rabbit dinner. Perhaps with some chips on the side.

Thing is, I've never tried rabbit before, and I feel bad about killing most things. I've no problem dealing with supermarket meats, but then, that's no more an animal than a banana is. Last time I touched a real dead animal was a little mouse that I pulled from a water tray under a fridge at work, which I found so horrible that I was nearly sick. So although I like the idea of tasty fresh meat, I'm unsure if I could do it.

Has anyone here ever killed their own dinner? How did you feel? And was the meat nice enough to make it worth it?

You just imagine it to be a piece of meat from the supermarket. Detach your feelings and it's easy.

We don't need pic ffs, you should of really had more sense. Would you appreciate me posting pics of dead kids? No, it's called common sense.

Hi, If you can detach then definately don't do it... I wouldn't want it to be a wasted life.

My mum killed our rabbit to feed the family many years ago in desperation to feed us (Times were very hard). She never told us what she'd done and my family ate not knowing what they were having. I however, felt uneasy and refused. Later I found out what my mum had been forced to do.

I am not saying my mum was wrong, but I am scarred about the event to this day. I also understand my mum better now that I am a mum trying my best for my own family.

Like I say - don't put the life to waste, make sure you eat it.

I haven't reported you myself - but I would appreciate them being removed as it is upsetting

Thankyou

WRONG!
Its a "wascally wabbit" or a piece of meat.
U gonna start reporting butchers for displaying decapitated animals

Are you serious???? Since when did we become cannibals? Grow up and stop trying to discount what happens to the meat you eat, just because you're too ignorant to accept it from the animal but only from the frozen pack in Asda.

Thanks for the rep :) and SOME people find looking at dead skinned pets, just as offensive as looking at pictures of morgues....why do it? We all get the picture.....oh and no need for the sarcastic rudeness, maybe it's that frozen meat your eating !!

Easiest thing to do is to buy a .22 rifle and shoot it in the head. Skinning is fairly easy and straightforward but it gets a bit messy when degutting. I don't particularly rate the taste of rabbit and there's not a lotta meat on them anyway so I don't really bother anymore unless I happen to see one munching on my lettuces :p

Chicken at Tesco is so cheap now anyway.

To the point yes (which worked) but rude? Not in the slightest :)
