Fried Bread

Quicky question for people here. Can i make fried bread by putting it in the deep fat frier (one for making chips) or do i need to do it in a frying pan with some oil?

I think you can, but I hate fried bread, eggy bread is far better.

i think it may work but im guessing it would be extra unhealthy as there will be more oil for it to soak up?

I'm making chips now so i might as well try it before hand to see how it turns out, i can always not eat it if its completely saturated.

Do it in frying pan. Some oil, brown it off, then put in some butter to finish it off...Yummy!

Toast it 1st then it won't soak up as much oil, just a bit healthier.

Yes it probably would work, But it would be dripping in oil, Very unhealthy and i'd imagine taste disgusting.

Best way to do fried bread is to have the frying pan going with a some cooking oil. Dip each side of the bread in it and remove again. Once all the oil is soaked up, put the bread back in and fry it using the soaked up oil. Prepare for heart attack.

mmmmmm Eggy fired bread *salivas all over his keyboard*

Seriously crack an egg open into a cup, then mix it with a spoon until the whole mixture is orange, then fry the bread and at the same time put the gg mixture on it.

OMG im gonna have to try that eggy bread ive never heard of it!! My favorite is.... FRY BACON in pan but keep bacon fat in pan and put in tin of beans, ( your cooking the beans in bacon fat) then remove then in the combined juices put bread in to fry it!! must be a zillion calories but its lush!

Crack egg into bowl, add a little milk optional cayenne or herbs. Dip bread in both sides (should get 2 slices of bread per 1 egg/milk mix), fry in a little oil until golden brown.

Sweet version.

Crack egg, mix with a little milk or cream. Dip bread in both sides. Then fry in butter. Sprinkle with sugar or add syrup after.

Yeah i've done the eggy bread one before, its really nice.

I tried the fried bread in the frier and it actually worked quite well although the bread floats in the oil so u have to flip it over so both sides get done. I had sure to get rid of all of the oil once i took it out using some kitchen towel, i couldnt manage it all though because it was a bit oily, so i feel a bit ill now lol.

Brush with olive oil and then grill - nice and not as oily.

Yuch !!! Fried bread from the deep pan? just think of all the stuff youve fried in it and your away to ea(in effect) that oil

That makes my stomach churn im afraid ! lol

Get some homemade chips done, grate loads of cheese and top with gravy :thumbsup:

Nah its lovely! the gravy melts the cheese and makes it really tasty!

Used to get it at college at lunch times from local chinese for £1.50(this was only a few months back)

It's a taste sensation... try it, you'll be converted...

I won't ask you to try other things I eat (Pizza with Gravy, Chips & Cheese with Curry Sauce).

MMM chips cheese and curry sauce, not as nice as with gravy(depends on the curry sauce i.e Indian or Chinese)
