If anyone does do this please help me!!!

I've been wanting to dye my Brown hair to Blonde for a while now, I keep seeing people everywhere who are platinum Blonde, how are they doing it?

I tried it before, and i went carrot, but I know some people do actually do it!
What do you use, to go straight from one to another?
Any help would be great x

I have use the live colours to go from dark to light and never have a problem

If you know people that do it, ask them?

in my past experience the longer i have left it on the blonder it goes...if you take it off too soon thats where you get the orange.
#5
Yeah i mean people in the street!

I tried bleach and it wouldnt lift enough

The hairdresser has to do mine, can't risk doing it myself

How long before your hair falls out though?...

I thought there was something you had to do to strip the colour out before dying it blonde...

It is a case of leave it longer to avoid orange, although I'm sure there must be a fine balance between a nice blonde and knackered hair.

going from dark brown hair to platinum blonde usually entails a bleach and then a blonde put over it, or something like that, ie -not just bleach

today i am going platinum blonde and at the mo i have really dark hair. fancied a change just before crimbo, so had it dyed dark. i have red tones in my natural mousy coloured hair, so when i do go light, I have to use an ash blonde or golden blonde so it doesnt react with the red already in my hair. same with goin dark, i have to have a red put on a blonde, like mahogany, then dyed brown. what a pain!!

I have brunette hair and always have the bright blonde chunks put in by the hairdresser....she doesnt use bleach cos of how it damages your hair after the 2nd/3rd/4th time of doin it....she just uses a dye...not too sure what it is though, the colour stays the same permanently too and never fades so perhaps you need to find a decent hairdresser????
also...have you had your hair red in the past??? I had the idea to have red chinks last year, then wanted it back blonde, took ages t get the blonde over the red, the hairdresser had to dye it a couple of different colours in the same sitting (from red to brown to a whitish colour, then the blonde over it) cos apparently red dye is really hard to dye over???
I know it isnt much help cos I dont do it myself but thought could be info for you

hi there how dark is your hair, if its more dark brown than medium and if it has colour on it i wouldn't recommend you do it cos it prob wouldn't lift it to the blonde you want it to. (it would prob go carrot) Does your hair have colour on?

my hair is all natural atm, and its light brown so it shouldnt be too hard to dye over, i have no red in it at all.
maybe im better off finding a hairdresser? just bit worried tho, as sum1 said they could do it beofre and turned me orange!

My daughter has a tendancy to dye her hair quite often, she decided to go dark, and then decided she wanted to go blonde for her prom... i aint a hairdresser but i do dye her hair for her, i told her not to do it, her hair was not ready for the bleach, so she bought some anyway, the prelightener and the toner to go on top, and asked her gran to do it without me knowing.... oh it was a mess, and i had to laugh.... it was orangy pink... so frizzy and was like candy floss, and was falling out. and i could not help but say "i told you so!" and "mother knows best" it is now a couple of months since she did this and our hairdresser has done a couple of strand tests and her hair is still not ready to go blonde!!
whatever you do do, make sure you prepare your hair with some deep conditioning treatments before you go lighter. And maybe get some advice from a hairdresser first, and defo do a strand test.

I would recomend you go a salon then, at least if it goes wrong then they will put it right for you.

it goes orange cos most of the pre-lighteners on the market are not strong enough to lift all of the colour out of the hair. i used to do it myself, but my hubby got sick of me buying endless dyes to cover up my bad home colour. so now he pays for me to go to the hairdressers:-D
