if someones given you an offer, and you counter it, but then someone else offers you more before they respond, can you just sell to the highest offer, or should you sell to the person you first spoke to? Is there any etiquette, or just take the highest offer?

If you've countered it, the counter offer is now asking price, so you cant accept more than the new asking price.

It is usually the first offer for the asking price. But as I have found today it does not matter really just depends who you want to sell to.

starr is correct, although someone else may offer you the new asking price-technically you dont need to accept the first persons offer you spoke to-you are entitled to sell to anyone you want.most people, including me WILL sell to first to offer asking, but just to clarify the rules as it were, you dont have to.

so if you wanted £20, somebody offered you £10, so you went back with £15, then somebody else offered you the £20 asking before the other person responded, you could sell it for the higher amount but it would be rude?

Nope, that would be a rule breach as your new asking price would be £15

You must sell it at the £15 if you say you will accept £15, i've been suspended for this before x

you could however expire the listing wait seven days and relist it back at £20

so you're best not stating a price but ask them to go higher, then if someone nips in with a better offer you can take it.

refuse the offer and wait for asking price, don't have to give a counter offer
