I am sorry to say that it will make absolutely no difference whatsoever.

I'm going to look into an electric car of some type.

This will literally have no impact. What you are trying to do is nice but unfortunately it won't help :(
#4
I reckon its probs worth taking the red diesel route now!
#5
Maybe your right, and the only thing that will possibly help is PROTESTS but where are they.
Why are we a country not standing up for ourselves. So we just have to roll over and take it?
Ridiculous!!!

Is this more moaning without suggesting an alternative?

If theres over a million petitions its going to have some effect surely?

I agree that something needs to be done but going down the red diesel route would be illegal and why should hard working citizens have to break the law and risk getting a criminal record?

We need to be a bit more like the French in this country in terms of the way they protest. Maybe if their were enough mass demonstrations, the Government may change the duty on fuel. The problem is we were divided and conquered by the Thatcher regime and people think they can't change thing's anymore.

Just a thought but the local elections are just around the corner, maybe people should make their views known in the local elections in May of this year, tell your friends and families to vote for a different political party.

I'm sure central government will get the message if enough Con-Dem Council's lose their seats.

It'll certainly deliver a message - we don't like paying tax. I'm sure the government will be shocked and surprised.

Do you or anyone have suggestions about where the shortfall in tax will be made up?

No I 'carnt'.

Serious question though. Plenty of people seem happy to moan about the price of petrol but don't seem to be too happy about making cuts in public spending.

Maybe we could use that magic money tree you obviously have in your back garden to pay the difference?

Have a look at the Robin Hood Tax website via google. Also, the Government needs to reduce it's spending by cutting its expenditure. I know people who undertake contracts on behalf of the Goverment and they pay way over the odds for goods and services. If the Government reduces wast it can cut the tax accordingly.

Reducing waste....why hasn't anyone ever thought of that before? I heard the government burns £50 notes instead of using conventional heating.

It obviously has nothing to do with the growth of the welfare state.

How about giving people more of an incentive to get out and work by raising minimum tax band slightly, therefore getting more people off of unemployment benefits and hopefully getting some more income tax into the governments pocket.

Then you might be able to look at reducing the duty on fuel, but in reality it's never going to happen.

The only legitimate way the current government can recoup some of the massive losses over the last 2 years is by maintaining the frankly Ludacris (sorry had to reference ;p) fuel prices. Or at least that will be the argument for the current prices. I seem to remember people almost rioting when prices were around the £1.10 mark almost 10 years ago. The current prices of £1.30 are disgusting. It's almost cheaper to fill a car with Jack Daniels!

there are so many fuel protests going on atm, and the media is starting to get involved. Search on facebook for groups like keep fuel below £1 and stand up britain fuel protest
