Just seen on the the news that some people are having to pay about 10% more for holidays that have already been booked due to extra flight supplements for fuel , how can that be ? if you have paid for it then surely they cant add supplements after the fact ? I think its just package holidays, do these tour operators put things in the t&c's so they can add extras at a later date ? just doesn't make sense to me I have always booked a flight and hotel seperately myself and this seems to me another good reason not to use these companies to book holidays
I am flying with Ryan air in August and in November managed to get the flights at silly prices during the year when the 1p deals were appearing , can they bang supplements on now after I have already paid for them ?

My Malaysian Airlines trip to Australia and Malaysia went up by £129 per person between booking in May and paying the balance in July. That's less than 10% of the ticket price and as petrol has gone up by more than that I'm not too miffed.

Thats interesting , is that because you hadn't paid in full that they can do this ?

Yes they can do it and yes they are doing it, it's ridiculous.

you do not have to pay it. Just cancel and book elsewhere (if cheaper of course).

well that depends doesnt it on what cancellation cost are, they are usually high on holidays when nearer the date , and of course flights get dearer as the date comes closer not cheaper so the chances are you will not get it cheaper

I find the reverse is true in most cases (certainly villa rentals becomg much much cheaper nearer the booking date).
