G1 or X1 Xperia

I'm thinking of upgrading my handset and I'm wondering which one of these people would recommend.

At the moment I'm leaning towards the X1 but any feedback anybody could give on either would be appreciated.

It has to be the X1 - uses Win mobile 6.1 and is a ver good and powerful device.

I played with the G1 and it just looks cheaply bult and cheap quality!!

let us know your decision.

I think it will probably will be the X1 to be honest, my contract is up in February with Yodafone so I'm gonna try to get an upgrade out of them at some point this week if I can. :)

I would have advised you to get the HTC HD ( I have this and its absolutely brilliant) but from your choice it seems like you are after a phisical keyboard!!

if keyboard doesnt matter then it will have to be the HTC HD!! :)

I would go for the G1 so you dont have to use windows mobile. Lots of interesting things coming to the android platform
#5
Ahh, the signals are getting a bit mixed now :)

HTC Touch HD or G1. I have the G1 and I love it and the HD is just lovely

Windows Mobile is terrible, even Microsoft admits it sucks. Android shows promise, shame the G1's so nasty to look at....plus being T-Mobile only is a bit of a kicker.

A lot of people don't realise this but the Xperia isn't actually a Sony Ericsson phone, it's a HTC with a SE badge on it. If only you could get Android on the Xperia.......now that would be a real "iPhone killer".

Do they? I just had a look on the Microsoft site - but couldn't find the reference. Care to share it?

And that's a bad thing is it?

Most decent phone's are iPhone killers anyway, so it's not really any big deal.

Well it's hardly going to be in the WinMo ads now is it :whistling:.

One well known example reported by gizmodo: "Derek sums it up like this: right now the Windows Mobile user experience is lacking. The features are there, but actually using these features is another story. Normal people can't figure it out. He says it's like using a Creative Zen vs. using an iPod or a Zune. You actually want to use a device that does the work for you, instead of making you do all the work. It took guts for Microsoft to admit what its mobile OS was lacking; we're going to do our part and accept their word that a more robust platform followed eventually by a more headache-free interface is where Windows Mobile really is headed." - Derek = Derek Snyder, Microsoft’s Product Marketing Manager for their Mobile Communications Business

They know what's wrong and are planning to fix it for WM7, with a complete rewrite in store for WM8. - Whether they actually manage that or not is a whole other story.

I'd beg to differ there, having a higher res screen or camera does not make a better phone. There a no phones that have managed to match the iPhone for ease of use/browsing/music capabilities etc.

You can put Touch Flo 3D (Touch HD interface) on the Xperia, does that change the equation much

Touch flo 3d is standard on the HD and it is there to integrate into the winmo 6.1 and make the user experience much easier!

its like a Microsoft user complaining to find Macs hard to use!! Ofcourse you need to learn to use...

Spark - Have a look at some videos on youtube to make your mind as to whick one is easier to use! the X1 interface does look very nice... :)

Learn to use? Learn to read more like :p. I simply pointed out that you can put the interface from the Touch HD (a HTC WinMo phone) onto the Xperia (another HTC WinMo phone): http://www.mobiletechaddicts.com/2008/11/01/xperia-x1-running-touchflo-3d/ :whistling:

The Touch HD does look nice, I think it's just a shame that it doesn't have a full keyboard, I think I probably will end up getting an Xperia since apparently there are people looking into installing Android on it already anyway.

Windows Mobile is awesome. You can run almost any application on it from Sat Nav to complex SQL Server databases. Anroid is the biggest piece of **** I've ever seen. Its full of spyware from Google.... use it at your peril. I'm getting the Xperia and whichever tithead said it was made by HTC needs to be shot. Its made entirely by Sony Ericsson and it simply works.
