I'm afraid comments like this just make you look like a bit of a tool. They may not be perfect, but I would confidently predict we have the best police force in the world. Try living in Asia, Africa even America or Mainland Europe and you will realise that the standard is poor and corruption is widespread.

The woman involved was a chancer....she had a history of trouble relating to demos. The officer did not use excessive force and was on trial because of a photograph. It didnt show the woman hitting the other officers.

so you are suggesting our police force is transparent and not corrupt?

didnt an inspector get locked up recently for abusing his power and refusing to pay a website designer for his work

i think you look the tool attempting to compare third world countries police forces with our own

So doesn't the fact he was locked up suggest the complete opposite to what you are implying. Surely you'd expect him just to give a bung to the courts and go on his merry way

police losing their temper and hitting a woman with a baton is inexcusable unless you find violence against an unarmed women acceptable

Strawman arguement. Here is a quote from the link "Judge Wickham added: "I am satisfied he honestly believed it was necessary to use force to defend himself." and "The officer told City of Westminster Magistrates' Court he feared objects in her hand were weapons. "
#15
Tbh I think she deserved it, if anyone came at me with a juice carton I'd pummel them as well.
We all know how much a juice carton resembles an AK-47.

The court found him not guilty, not me.......

but also said this

It argued he was justified in pushing her back and striking her with the back of his hand but claimed he went too far by striking her with an extendable metal baton.

Bu you stated that "police losing their temper and hitting a woman with a baton is inexcusable unless you find violence against an unarmed women acceptable". Which I agree with but this was not the set of circumstances that the policeman found himself in and I find it very strange that the women involved in incident did not give evidence.

I do find it acceptable, when shes clearly a complete lunatic, a total nut job and only there to cause trouble.

I'd probably still do her though.

i think with the high profile nature of the case if she did put herself up to present evidence the opposing lawyers would have dug thru her personal life to find something they could use.

to me it suggests she was advised not to due to put herself up, whatever she may have done in the past however irrelevant

bullyboy tactics......

its quite well documented now that the police had lied several times to cover up their failings on those protests and many other protests around the country

later this week the acpo will be releasing a draft of how they intend to police these kind of events in the future......and i wont believe a word of it

He acted in self defence and she hit him first - we have the best police force in the world you have obviously never experienced policing in other countries.
#23
tbh, if he didnt hit her, she wouldnt step back as the officer told her to before.
And if she didnt go back, it would b seen as a weakness in the poice defence and the crowd will tear that weakness open and harder. The outcome could have been worse, judging from the screams and swears from the protesters

EDIT: i admit though, that officer done a mistake for backhanding the woman...

i have lived in several countries my friend.........and that was not self defence in anybodys book especially not an armed, body armoured ,agitated policeman
#25
Always excuses when it comes to the police, if you so much as fart in public they seem able to do whatever they like.
There are plenty of bad cops as well as good cops end of, alot of police officers go on a power trip & think they can do what they like.

+1

they seem to think they run the country.....they dont!

they quickly forget what it is they are supposed to be doin.....they cause more trouble at festivals and protests than there would have been in the first place
#27
Waste of time and money this trial was. Good verdict.

1 I am not your friend
2 He thought she was armed and acted in self defence if she had been or he had not acted as he did the situation could have got out of hand then you would be moaning about soft policing and them not being able to control a crowd etc. They can't win

lol sorry "mate"

where was this weapon.....sorry "carton of orange" as none of the cameras around them seem to have caught it........

funny that this happened the day after the protests......again the police getting it wrong with excessive violence

The Met face a possible £250,000 compensation bill after admitting a raid on a squat the day after the G20 protests was illegal. The two demonstrators who took the Met to court are to receive £3,000 each which leaves 68 other protesters able to claim.

Cops burst into the squat armed with tasers, riot gear and a FIT team and proceeded to violently arrest the occupants (who had promptly sat down and offered no resistance) repeatedly cracking one activist on the head while he was on the floor. Despite cop claims that some ‘violent’ protesters from the day before were in the squat, none of the squatters matched any of the photos.

dont let me have to bring the jake smith case up as well......or the tomlinson case which is still to be heard

id rather have soft policing at non violent events than a show of heavy handedness causing untold unrest and riots.....escalating things for non reason
#30
Don't get me wrong there are some brilliant police officers but I don't like how we have to pretend that everyone is fantastic.
There is no way he thought she was armed.

Casper I am a police officer that goes to work for my family. Do I deserve to get assaulted spat on and abused for trying to help innocent people. I agree there are corrupt people in every walk of life and the police is no different but you was not at that protest do you can only listen to what the press have to say. They have never told lies before have they. You seem to have a vendetta against them to me.

ive already agreed there are good police officers but there are too many going out of there way for a little bit of violence and trouble causing, antagonising people for the sake of it to get a rise then using force to deal with the situation they caused..... ive seen it many times and not at the wrong end i might add.

this police officer blatantly assaulted a woman.......either way excessive force was used even if he had his mates cover it up and back him up. which is to be expected or face another kind of wrath if you dare to speak up with god forbid..... the truth

i know people who wre at that peaceful protest and they are peaceful protesters.....yet somehow they managed to get caught up in the heavyhandedness of the police yet again
#33
Even if he wasn't charged he should be sacked. He acted unprofessionally and demonstrated lack of proper judgement. This 'all police are angels' talk is crap. There are good and bad police. This one was bad.

And 'we have the best police force in the whole wide world'. You really believe that?!

Its a thread of people who dont like the police. They have seen a few pictures in the paper and the press reporting on it and found him guilty..... That is why we have FAIR JUDICIAL process... Innocent until proven guilty and all that....

Its typical of society sometimes.

We do have the best police force in the world thats why we get asked on lots of occasions to go and help out other countries to solve various crimes. You can never make 60million people happy, i'd suggest the people not ahppy are criminals with something to avenge....

in all walks of life there will be some who for what ever reason are scathing of the police, yes there were some very dark times many years ago, but the officer was found not guilty by a jury.. so end of..

as for the press .. they are a law unto themselves printing half truths.. and then when they get rapped by the press council and have to print an apology.. try finding it as it will be buried some place in the paper, but the shock head line will be front page..

cant please all the people all the time
#38
lol so anyone who disagrees with the police point of view is a criminal

its these kind of comments and those agreeing they are biased towards the police reagardless of the evidence, that damages the police reputation no end and shows they have zero to no integrity

you are a credit to your employers craigk8163.....who are they again?

dog cop there was no jury so you are mistaken....suprise suprise
