Games return policy on RROD xbox 360s?

One of my xbox 360s I have got just got the 3 red lights.

I bought it from game and I still have the receipt its about 10 months old.

My question is will they replace the console for me?

As Im 99% sure it has a 1 year warranty but im not sure if its with game or microsoft.

I know if it gets 3 red lights there is a 3 year warranty with microsoft.

I don't really fancy going through the hassle of waiting for a box then 2 weeks to get it back, so would rather not have to send it off to microsoft.

So I'm looking for someone with experience who can tell me if game will replace it straight away as its under a year old.

Thanks.

Thats not true, if it develops a fault during the first 12 months its covered by the sale and supply of goods act and the shop have to replace it.. they will argue the toss over it, but thats the law.. though they may try to go down the 'repair' route too if they are being really nasty, i know gamestation don't argue and will replace a console that develops a fault during the first 12 months..

Yes this is right, games extra insurance is actually very good, even swap controllers if you say if squeaks!

But yes without that it's only covered by them for 28 days, the rest is microsoft dude, send it back, turnaround times are pretty good nowadays, 1st rrod on a console gets xclamped, if the same one goes back and it will you will get a new Motherrboard, maybe even a jasper but they will replace the DVD drive if they do that too, only get to keep the drive if the same motherboard is in it (ie they just repaired the one that went wrong)

Faulty hardware may be returned for a like-for-like exchange up to 12 months of the despatch date.

This is what Game state as their return policy.

Over and above that, xBox360 have an automatic 3 year warranty assigned to them by Microsoft for the RROD fault so your covered either way.

Firstly I'd contact Game and explain the situation and ask them what they are going to do about it, they should replace the console for you.

Failing that Microsoft will repair it free of charge and also cover the cost of delivery both ways to repair a RROD fault on a console.

If this is true, find the documentation on the Internet that backs this up, print it out and march in there dude and stick to your guns! As they will then be the ones sending that console back for repair it will get restocked as one of their preowned ones, so they may replace your broken one with a preowned one and give you 3 months warrenty on it, but make sure you check the manufacture date as it should be newer or equivelant to yours for the rrod warrenty when their 3 month one runs out.

Thanks for all the replies, I have given rep. I will go into game tommorow and ask them about it.

If worse comes to worse will just have send it back just a pain in ass as this is the only console I have which isnt flashed and is used to play online so no cod 5 beta for a week or 2 :x

However they will give you a month free of live (card included in box) when it gets returned to you...so it's not that bad.

Game definately refund or exchange on faulty consoles under 12 months as long as you have the receipt or if not if you paid on card.

Last year my ps2 broke so i took it back but didnt have receipt so the phoned credit card company so they could verify i paid on it for that amount then they gave me a brand new console.
This year 360 got one red light, couldnt find receipt anywhere so they did it via my game reward card, as they didnt have any premiums in stock i got a refund of the price i had paid 11 months before then went and bought a new one in toys r us for £80 less and got a free game.
My brother is now the manager of one of our local stores and he said as long as you can proove you bought it from there then within 12 months they will replace for a brand new console or if not instock offer a refund.
The store may argue this as they do try and get out of it but keep your ground and ask to speak to manager, if that fails then ask for them to phone head office and allow you to speak and they will then do it.
Also quote what the person quoted above from game website if you do have trouble but i doubt you will.
Just stand your ground and they will do it as they dont want new customers to be witnessing them being unfair.

Good Luck!

You need to have it replaced by Game DO NOT be fobbed off with the Microsoft 3 year manufacture warranty.

Under the 'Sale of Goods Act', you have a contract with the 'Game' and they have a responsibility to ensure it is 'fit for purpose'

If you send it to Microsoft, you will be returned either your own console repaired or more than likely, someone else's refurb.

Know your rights and fight your corner - If need be, take it to Game head office.

Excellent advice and info here: http://www.avforums.com/forums/xbox-360-hardware/479165-faulty-360s-warranties-consumer-rights-faq-v1.html

I had similar problem a couple of months ago with a 9 month old faulty Nintendo DS and John Lewis. They were trying to fob me off with 'you need to send it to Nintendo', but after quoting a few paragraphs from the sale of goods act, they soon changed to 'We'll send you a new unit out in next 3-4 days and arrange collection of your old faulty unit.'

Personally I don't think you will have an issue with game replacing it. Stick your heels in if you do though...
