Yesterday i took my Wii into gamestation for a £120 cash trade in.
Came home with sons feeling very chuffed with ourselves.
Lst night got all our games together ready to decide how to sell them etc.
What an idiot i had left a game in the console. Guitar Hero World Tour.
Phoned game station this morning and explained.
In all honestly thought they would fob me off.....
Just got a call from them to say they have found it after a bit of searching and i can go collect it.
I honestly thought they'd say tough they had already left the shop to go elsewhere or something as the guy there could easily have pocketed it himself to make a few quid.
Well done game station. Every time i go in there i find them much nicer than game.
I'd even taken it to them as i took it to game and they refused to accept it because i didnt have a second form of ID on me with my address like a utility bill. Like you carry those around with you. My Photo driving liscence with address on wasnt good enough for them but game station were more than happy with it.
I know where i am going to go in future.
Just thought i would mention it.

Yes Gamestation are brilliant, went the other day to CEX to trade some games they offered me £35. Then went to Gamestation and they offered me £24 but then I said that CEX would give me £35 and the guy said ok we give you £36 then. He just took my word for it. I could not believe it. Way to go Gamestation.

So I traded my games at Gamestation and got a PS3 dualshock 3 controller for £39.99. I know I could have gotten the one from CEX for £30 preowned but in the end decided for gamestation for their good service and also got a new controller for £3.99 so not too bad in my mind. I know online I could get it for less than that but I was there and decided to get it.

even if they sell some of the games I traded in at a loss gamestation probably made lots of profit on that controller anyway so next time I know I would go to gamestation again.

Thing is though is it down to those individuals that served you or the actual company itself?
I've had good experiances and bad from the same company's, but what truly is good when the service is consistant throughout, and when you come to pay you feel that they have been helpful and doesn't hurt as much when you put hand the cash over.
I doubt the in-house training would be very extensive.

Good customer service does go a long way.

Its all the staff that work there i find my local gamestation staff very rude yet game much more friendly so its all staff nothing to do with store and as mentioned they are owned by the same company.

As for the game left in the machine how did that happen because they should of checked the console worked before buying and they would of seen a game was in and you are not the first and wont be the last person that does that.

It's down to individuals I'd say, the local Gamestation staff here used to be very good and seemed genuinely interested in games however the current staff are extremely unfriendly and confrontational if you ever ask them something.

They only checked a controller, never opened the rest of the box. It was like new even wrapped in all the original wrapping so whether they took me on trust not sure.

I agree with everyone its probably down to the individual staff. i never used to use them as they are a smaller shop in my area than game but think i will always check both out now.

i hate gamestation where i am (grimsby) the staff in there are ass holes you stand waiting at the counter and they just stare at you and carry on talking, and then when you ask to be served they take a pop at you telling you to calm down.

Although i am aware, i probably just go in and attract the idiots, but still i aviod, i prefer game in grimsby

anyone know if gamestation match cex even if there is not a cex store local to it. ie will they match cex online prices?

Just got back from New York actually.
It does make a huge difference as to how the staff are. If people are rude and don't help I don't feel like I want to stay in that store and spend MY money there.

However, I did spend a lot when in NY as people there were willing to help you, they did it with a smile. That was pretty much consistant throughout most of the retail shops. Due to thier friendly manner, I felt more comfortable, therefore would have taken the time to have a look around.

This can vary store to store, my local gamestation is norwich but we dont have a cex, last xmas i used a cex online print out to get really stupidly high trade in prices for some old ds games and had to fight it out with several members of staff as their instore signs stated "we wont be beaten on trade in prices". however more recently they now have signs up saying you wont find cheaper in the city so they now wont price match outside of norwich it seems.

I am in Southport and all the Gamestation staff are horrid people with some bad attitude, the manager is a total tool. They sold me a xbox 360 wheel used once. It is their mission to be unhelpfull as possible and look down on their customers with contempt. It is the same in the Chorley store !

However the GAME shops in both towns well run by friendly and helpfull people ! It is one company now but both still operate as separate entities. It is amazing how corporate culture can turn out.

The fact that they hire mostly monkeys that dress as if they're auditioning for a Michael Jackson Thriller tribute video only adds to the fact that they're useless.

Oh, they tried to fob me off by saying my XBOX console wasn't in warranty when it clearly was.
