I've just signed up with these.

There is no contract if you tick the correct boxes. Its a server dedicated to gaming... 10gb monthly usage, unmonitored usage between midnight -8am, if you go over your usage its £1.50 for every 2gb.

also sign up before end of march and get a free £40 GAME voucher.

will put the link in the next post

been with plus.net for a while now, great service....

Its a bit expensive

£20 a month for a 10Gb limit.
Ok its unlimited between 12am-8am, but its a pain doing all your downloading then.

I'm a gamer, and Mods/ Updates etc can kill that 10Gb in no time, unless your up all night.

i'm going to trial it as its a dedicated gaming server, so my speeds should be good, and the average 360 downloads aren't that huge.

Looking to change your broadband supplier? This might interest you if so. PlusNet have launched a new Broadband package aimed squarely at us gamers and are giving away £40 worth of GAME vouchers to anyone who signs up before the end of March.

Not only are freebies involved, the service has apparently been optimised so as to provide prioritised gaming and VoIP traffic to allegedly give low pings and a reliable gaming connection. At £19.99 a month it's perhaps not the cheapest but it's certainly not overly expensive, contract lengths are also just 1 month so giving it a try should be easy.

Plusnet used to have a terrible rep though it looks better recently.

If you can get BE/O2 thats the best.

Entanet is the best overall but expensive.

As ryouga said, if you want a proper gaming ISP you should be looking for a service provider who offers ADSL2+ technology that has 1.3 meg upload (better for gaming).

The only 2 I know of are; o2 and BeThere - both are the same company but one is for o2 existing customers and one isn't basically. There is another but I cannot remember it's name, also BT will be rolling out ADSL2+ in the next couple/few years. You can also get a Pro package from BeThere which is 2.5 meg upload. They offer different services for download (8 meg and 24 meg, pick which one depending on your distance to the exchange obviously).

Very cheap too, unlimited bandwidth.. Basically it just "epic lolz" with Be* compared to most other ISPs due to the price/performance ratio.

Ps. I left Plusnet a while back for Be* - they might be getting better now, but they were rubbish when I was with them and looking at that download cap they are still rubbish for the price they are charging.

Interesting but..bit of a confusing site offers the max premium service but after 5mins i still couldn't link this to any of the offered packages.
I have had experience of a company that also offer the "dsl max" product with 832k up speed and am sure it was back-boned by the same lot (entanet)
Unfortunately it appeared to be thwarted by local exchange congestion possibly due to unfair sharing of bandwidth by BT(could find no other explanation)
At certain times of da,y my in game ping became very erratic and would double from avg 45 to 100+ without any action going on game wise. this happened to a few isps i tried but has not happened to my neighbours or my BT connection
Worth trying for a short period but don't hold your breath for home server usage.

For a long quite long line 48Db Line Loss, I get next to no errors on my Line, the occasional RS error but thats all, I contacted my ISP (BT) and had them turn off interleaving, which made on line gaming a hell of a lot better for me.

, also BT will be rolling out ADSL2+ in the next couple/few years.

BT should implement ADSL2+ in most of there exchnages by Autumn this year.

I pay that for 8mb unlimited from Bulldog. I get around 6/7mb because of my distance from the exchange.. Play alot of team fortress 2 and counterstrike and get pings of around 11-30ms from UK servers.

I think you're paying over the odds really.. specially for a 10gb bandwidth allowance...

and from the small print..

"- It is likely that speeds no greater than 2Mb will be achieved at peak usage times due to contention in our network and our suppliers' networks."

bullcrap! thats just a poor excuse for having over crowded nodes.

Those pings are a bit high mate on my 2mb connection I get pings of 6msor lower, you may need to sort your PC settings, gfx and hdd etc to get a lower ping.

Canterbury is lovely, loved my time there. Spent 2 years at Howe Bks. Suprisingly good on the beer down there.
