It's good price but I would suggest you get yourself a PS3 or xbox if you want to play games.

I bought a system second-hand a couple of months back. Spec went:

Phenom 9750
2GB RAM
320GB HDD
Sapphire 4870HD silent edition
2x DVDRW
19" monitor
Vista Ultimate
various games
keyboard & mouse & 2.1 speakers

all for £300. So, I'd reckon the offer you've seen is pretty weak, and you should keep looking.

Gumtree.

I love Gumtree. It's so much easier, cheaper, faster and all-round better for sellers to use than eBay is that things tend to be a lot cheaper to buy on it. Like this system here, available to buy right now. Check out your local gumtree, and keep checking back for a few days, or maybe a couple of weeks. Serious bargains do crop up reasonably frequently, at least on the Edinburgh Gumtree. Good luck with it, dude.

tbh only buy if you are desperate, with the weak pound prices are sky high at moment. systems are selling for what people paid for them last year it's mad,,
checkout ebuyer or keep an eye on main page for ready builds at tesco etc, they seem to be doin some decent deals recently

I personally don't think its that great.

I bought a Core 2 Duo for £180 last year similar spec - only difference being ram and gfx card..

how does an alienware 3ghz core 2 extreme with 8800 ultra sound for £420?

2gb - kind of assuming (correct me if wrong) that anything in an alienware computer will be very good quality like motherboard and hdd (140gb for some reason 10,000rpm???)
It also has watercooling
