Had a gas safety inspection this morning,all done guy left,started feeling a little hot and realised the radiators are on full welly,been downstairs to turn off at the thermostat but thats switched off?!

rung them up and they said" we will try and get someone out to sort it today" yeah great I've got all day to sit in and wait for the monkeys to arrive lol

do i turn the boiler off or leave it gobbling my prepaid gas?

Is the boiler still running is it just residual heat from the test? If the stat is off, it may just take a while to cool down.
Check the front of the boiler, there is probably a switch for manual on, which is what he may have used to run his tests. Switch it back to the clock/auto.

no its def not from the test that was at 9am! and the heatings still going flat out
my prepayment card only has 37p remaining so hopefully it will run out soon and i can stop sweating lol

If it takes them a while to turn up, contact them again and ask for compensation for them using up your pre-paid gas, as thats nigh on 5 hours of running flat out. It was the techs mistake if he has left it in manual, they should recompense you for the wasted gas.

At least if it stops soon you can cool down and think about it.

yeah all windows and doors wide open but its still baking in here,just rung back and asked when i can expect someone to turn up and got the "when we have someone free" line :o(

do you think its worth asking for them to give me something back for my gascard?

Most definitely, it's their mistake, not yours.

They might discount the cost of the service rather than cash but anything is worth a try.

Definitely, there is nothing you can do about it so its totally their fault (whereas if you could turn it off, but just didnt realise it was on, they probably wouldnt do anything about it)

If you dont try, you dont get :thumbsup:

If I came into your house and bypassed your controls to get the system to run manually for test purposes, would you know how to reset that to the normal running conditions where you normally switch on/off?
