Gene Wilder -- star of classics like "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory," "Blazing Saddles," "Young Frankenstein" and more -- has died.

He was 83.

Wilder was a legend in Hollywood. He was married to Gilda Radner from 1984 until she passed away in 1989. He married again in 1991 to Karen Boyer.

Wilder is survived by a daughter, Katharine -- whom he adopted in 1967 when he married her mother Mary Joan Schute.

How sad. I loved him in silver streak with richard pryor. It was such a funny movie.

Also a good pairing in "See No Evil, Hear No Evil"... especially the scene where Pryor (as "Wally", the blind character) was driving a car, & Wilder (as "Dave", the deaf character) was giving instructions.

Will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered.

Shame. Didn't realise he was 83. Only thing I have seen him in is Willy Wonka, but feel awfully sad to hear this. A childhood classic.

There's a spelling mistake you haven't corrected in the opening sentence of the post.

He had a long and interesting life, fell in love (at least twice), and will be remembered fondly by countless people. I guess you can't really ask for more out of life.

FantasyDeals' skills at copy'n'pasting seemed to be lacking originally, but perhaps "Williy" was the intended spelling this time.

Apart from the movies already mentioned, please aim for those he acted in as well as writing the screenplay &/or took Directing duties upon:

"Haunted Honeymoon", "The Woman in Red", "The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother", "The World's Greatest Lover", & the "Skippy" segment of "Sunday Lovers" being those that fit all the criteria.

However, you cannot dismiss "Young Frankenstein" (as Wilder had the original idea, & co-wrote the screenplay with the Director, Mel Brooks).

"The Producers" is also a pivot point in his acting career.

It got so that every pissant prairie punk who thought he could shoot a gun would ride into town to try out the Waco Kid. I must've killed more men than Cecil B. DeMille. Got pretty gritty. Started hearing the word "draw" in my sleep. Then one day, I was walking down the street when I heard someone shout, "Reach for it, mister!" I turned around to see who it was, and there I was, standing face-to-face...with a 6 year-old kid. I just put my guns down and walked away. Little ******* shot me in the ass!

RIP Gene Wilder

Just watched, what he says about swearing for swearing sake in films is very true, and Sausage Party I scanned over as my kids wanted to watch it, and well i've never seen a film thats more swearing for swearing sake, its an absolutely horrendous film, Seth Rogen wasnt my fav actor but i found him amusing, he has gone to the bottom of the pile IMO now.

There is very little films made today that are funny without being full of shock value.

Arthur Hiller who directed both Silver Streak and See no Evil, Hear no Evil also passed away earlier this month.
