My 18 year old son has two Gerbil's which keep on chewing through their water bottle's, not sure how many they have got through now, but he put one in the cage last night and they have already chewed three hole in it, Does anyone know if you can get metal drink bottles for them? He's tried bowls but they just cover them up with the wood chips!

They are just being ungrateful, if you manage to find a metal water bottle wire it up to the mains ..... that should stop themhttp://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-devil10.gif

You'll probably have more luck finding a glass one rather than metal.

Eg. http://www.cheappetproducts.net/GLASS_WATER_BOTTLE_8_OZ-UKP54777.html

They can get to the water if they don't chew holes in the bottle's, but honest they are nutter's:w00t: doesn't matter what you put in there they go nut's with it, the amount of loo, kitchen towel, and gift wrap tubes that get put in there! just chew! chew!

micoo has a good point tho ...how are they chewing the actual bottle if it is outside the cage ?the metal bit with the ball bearing goes through the bar and the other bit is way out of reach normally

Yes, bottles are in the cage! they either chew the plastic bit that holds the nossle or the bottle itself, he built them a long cage out of MDF, with a glass front to it, and MDF and wire top, It looks realy good. But after about 8 months, he had to tile the floor as they we digging there way out the bottom:w00t: LOL

My sister said her bottle is glass, and that her rabbit chews through the ties - that's why I asked! The Pet shop said to buy metal ties.

She's been giving her rabbit a bowl of water - but it gets pretty messed up

I just found one on a gm.tv website and have ordered that, but cant find the page again now was going to put the web page on here for others, if I can find it again I will, Ha, found it! I know it's plastic, but as it's rounded they might not be able to chew it, but they might get the top bit, Not sure about if you can get metal tiles though

Don't know if you can get it any bigger for rabbits!

Very funny santa ! tube goes out of cage , around the cage and back into the cage otherwise they would escape :p i meant the plastic was solid so how could they chew through the tube :-D
