Get your petrol/diesel now - its going up by about 10p a litre in the next few weeks

Current prices are about 4-6 weeks behind the oil price so currently £1.20 petrol / £1.31 diesel is based on an oil price of $125 a barrel. It just hit a record high of $146 a barrel so expect a 10p hike in the near future.

A $2 rise equates a a 1p per litre rise according to the AA.

Will anybody be able to afford to get to work at these prices?

A lot of economists are predicting $200 a barrel by the end of the year (£1.60 a litre / £7.28 a gallon!).

I'm glad i don't commute anymore!

Thats Diesel 142.9 and Unleaded 126.9

or in proper language which us oldies understand:-

Diesel £6.51 a gallon and Unleaded £6.00 a gallon

Weren't we moaning about £4 a gallon only a year ago?

Still, inflation is only 3.2% according to this government :w00t:

They really shouldn't be allowed to put luxury items like plasma tvs / hdd recorders etc into the basket of goods (council tax has the same weighting as a TV so if a TV goes down by 50% and your council tax goes up by 50% then they call that zero percent inflation!!!).

Some people will need the fuel, because we are going on holiday and we are driving there!

Imagine how much it would cost at 142.9 a litre? £60-£70

depends where you are driving too ;-)

My commute would now be costing £90 a week if was working! Wouldnt be so bad if they didnt nick 40% off my gross in tax / ni and expect me to find that £90 from the remainder.

Surely working is becoming out of reach for many now because of the cost of getting there and back..............................:x

Don't worry in the long term, oil prices would come crashing down to between US$50 - US$100 per barrel. The current hype is due to hoarding and speculative demand by oil traders. This is the oil equivalent of the dot.com boom. The reason is that there is plenty of oil on this planet and they become to be econmically to mine when oil price exceeded US$50.... see this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athabasca_Oil_Sands as an example. Mining companies were hesitant to invest heavily when the oil price was about US$50 per barrel and could move either way then. Now that it is more likely to be high in the long term they will invest heavily to bring much many more oil fields into production.

It's cos of the Chinese stockpiling stuff before the Olympics (and not just oil).
They are shutting down all their refineries and heavy industry sites prior to the Olympics to try to improve the air quality before half the worlds media descends on the country. Hence the stockpiling.
God damn communists!!!! :x

no-one wants to take public transport - i had a weird old man try to grope my leg on a bus once. Don't get that in the safety of my car. Don't get suspicious bottles rolling around containing a yellow liquid either....

bod emrys
My car only costs £10 to go 70 miles and it can carry my partner, 2 kids, 2 dogs and the shopping too - so that doesn't seem like much of a saving to me.
Wish I only had to travel 75 miles a week though :x

what car you got??

lol!!! How far do you have to travel then?
